Itinerary

  • Cádiz... see swaying palms, whitewashed buildings, and the beautiful domed Cathedral de Cádiz. This Andalusian city is one of Europe's oldest settlements. From Cádiz you could make your own way to Seville and discover the Plaza de España.
  • Gibraltar... this stop offers a combination of British charm and Spanish and Mediterranean influences. You'll cruise past the Rock of Gibraltar as you leave port. It is known as a prime location for whales and dolphins.
  • Cartagena... cruise by Cartagena bay on your way into port. Take in picturesque views and azure waters. The city itself has over 3000 years of history. Step aboard a Trolley Train to explore the city on an optional tour for a supplement.
  • Malaga... visit the birthplace of Picasso. See the landscape and wildlife which influenced his childhood. This stop is also known as the olive capital of the world. Malaga’s Andalusian region produces 35% of the EU’s olives.
  • Ceuta... stay overnight in port and enjoy the fine architecture, museums, and cuisine found here. Casa de los Dragones is probably the most popular building in town. Known as House of Dragons in English, its shape reflects its name.
  • Tangier... set on the straits of Gibraltar, Tangier is considered Europe's gateway to Africa. Learn the secrets of Moroccan peppermint tea-making and sample fresh bread on an optional tour. Supplements apply to this.

Ship details
Balmoral is part of the Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines' fleet. Cruise Critic praises the "stylish and friendly" vessel. It offers a "classic small ship cruising with a fresh new look".

Learn about Andalusian history and Roman influences with a talk from historian Carla Ionescu. Karin Bucannan will be onboard to talk about the architecture of the region. At night, head out on deck to stargaze with astronomer Dani Robertson from Go Stargazing.
