  • This famous former smuggler's inn dates back to 1420. It was reputedly visited by Elizabeth I and has hosted the Queen Mother.

Fantastic place to stay, we had never been visited Rye before and we really enjoyed it. Very quaint. The mermaid inn was amazing so much history The staff were lovely very attentive and the food was great. Would highly recommend it to everyone.

Expect all the quirkiness of a very old hotel. Car parking spaces tight and limited but they try and squeeze you in! Restaurant only option of 2 / 3 course meal . Personally a main would have been enough, but there are bar options.

Greaat Hotel, with sloping floors, ceilings and staircases. Staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Food was great, well done to the chef.Would definitely come back.

No shower in our room apart from an attachment to the taps, this didn't bother us. Road can be noisy if you are staying at the front of the hotel, again didn't bother us. Car park is small but does have EV chargers that can be booked. Staff do move cars around if you are happy to leave your keys, unfortunately they left our car open and had moved the electronic seat.
