The hotel is on the Penwith Heritage Coast. Enys Dodnan Arch—a rock formation similar to Durdle Door—is less than 30 minutes' walk away.
Sennen Cove and Sennen Beach are both less than 45 minutes' walk along the South West Coast Path. The path runs in front of the property.
The village of Porthcurno, with its pristine white-sand beaches and rugged cliffs, is less than 15 minutes' drive away. The Daily Telegraph lists it among the best beaches in Cornwall.

This was our fourth visit, had said on booking it was also a special occasion but there was no acknowledgement of that. The rooms are nice. Bed was a double so a bit cosy. They ran out of pastries, juice and milk at breakfast on the Sunday which was very disappointing. Could do with a little more attention to detail. Some of the staff were lovely.

Super location, comfortable room with sea view. Unfortunately under staffed especially at breakfast time. Very bad experience one breakfast sitting when staff firstly forgot to take out order, then the chef forgot to cook our order. Not only that but if you selected a breakfast dish requiring toast, e.g.poached eggs on toast, the eggs were cooked in the kitchen and you were left to prepare the toast yourself. This really didn’t work as you weren’t informed when the eggs were to be served so you didn’t know when to put the bread in the toaster. Disaster basically !!. The whole breakfast experience took 1.5 hours from start to finish. To be fair to the hotel management we were compensated with 2 main meals at dinner in the evening but breakfast service is an issue that needs to be sorted as it let the hotel and holiday experience down.

What had been a highly anticipated stay, was marred by the following 3 issues
1. PRIOR TO THE STAY
We booked and paid up in full - a clear 7 months prior to our stay at the Lands End Hotel. The dates were to arrive on Friday 7th March 2025 and to depart on Monday 10th March 2025 (3 nights).
We encountered several issues when the time approached for our stay.
11 days beforehand, we were contacted by the hotel. They informed us that they would be closed on one of the dates of our stay.
We were asked to change our arrangements - for either another week or to commence our stay a day earlier. I acted immediately as my partner and I did not want our holiday spoilt. It was agreed with the hotel on the same day of the received phone call that we would commence our stay a day earlier than originally planned. This entailed changing our travel and work arrangements.
Unfortunately, the next day we were again contacted by Lands End Hotel - informing us the revised dates were also no longer good. This is despite having two long phone conversations and agreeing dates with Phoebe a member of staff when rebooking the previous day.
The option for a refund was offered but not a viable one to accept. We had been looking forward very much to our holiday and would have lost leave from work as well as money for our already paid for train tickets - something we had changed following the original phone call, the day before.
It was eventually agreed with the assistant manager, Jane, that we would stay the first night locally in the Saddle and Stable Rooms - self catering units belonging to the hotel located a mile away, followed by two nights in a complimentary upgraded superior seaview studio room next to the hotel (Penwith Studios). We had to make a request for a complimentary upgrade from the seaview room that we had originally booked - for all the inconvenience, as it was not willingly offered.
The hotel had to be chased several times to put in writing the revised agreements made. Obviously my partner and I did not want to turn up and have no one there that recognised the new agreed arrangements - a real possibility given the poor, inefficient email and phone communications encountered at that point.
2. MORNING FOLLOWING FIRST NIGHT
The first night we did make our own way to the self catering unit. This is despite the hotel originally agreeing that someone would take us there. Additionally, it was agreed beforehand that someone would collect us from the self catering unit to transport us to the hotel - for the next stage of our planned stay the following morning.
On the morning, it was necessary to call the hotel as the agreed 8am pickup had not arrived. At this point, we were informed that breakfast had been removed and we were given a revised check in time at the hotel of 3pm.
Although our package supposedly included three days of breakfasts and was agreed, we had to ask for breakfast on our first morning as no arrangements had been made for this.
We did eventually take brunch at the hotel but this was cold.
3. OUR STAY IN PENWITH STUDIOS
From the outset of our stay in Penwith Studios, the heating in our room was faulty. We notified the reception of this issue mid morning on the first day we were in this accommodation. Our room was cold and the problem was not fixed until late in the evening.
Whilst the heating did eventually come on in the room, the bathroom towel rail / radiator, did not come on at all during our two night stay in the studio.
I have huge reservations about staying at or recommending this hotel. What most certainly could be a beautiful experience could equally be spoilt by sudden last minute changes.

The only thing that could have improved it was if there was a residents lounge looking out over the sea. There was a small area where you could sit but this was in the middle of the hotel with no windows. We did sit in the cafe but felt we were taking up a table from people wanting to eat something from the cafe.

The staff were amazing. Very helpful and polite.
The food was over priced and the menu is in need of changing. The room was a bit small with a dangerous overhang on one side of the bed, but it was nice and clean. The location is tge selling point of the hotel. The views are amazing

Excellent service and polite staff. Room clean and updated but not enough room space in front of bed and no chair or coffee table for sitting and chilling in the room. Not many choices of main meals in restaurant. We decided to eat outside but it was difficult as not many places to eat near the hotel.

Paid upgrade for a sea view, lovely view, only problem you could only see it if you stood looking out of the window. Not very restful. Bed, small double, The room/ bathroom overall was beautiful, it felt very claustrophobic.
We requested a change of rooms, which we accepted, a bigger room with a bigger bed a view that could be seen when sitting, also a view of the restraunt roof, which I didn’t feel justified the £60 upgrade. The bathroom was very nice but the room was very tired & in need of an upgrade. Along with the bed that had at least 2 springs poking through.
