One problem, we were unable to scan the QR code in the room or at reception which gave all the information about the hotel and surrounding area. We asked if there was a hard copy available but were told there wasn't. Not having the information to hand meant that we arrived early to breakfast on Saturday and had to wait 20 minutes till service began. We went for a walk so It was OK but a bit annoying. We were told breakfast times when we checked in but we had forgotten over the 2 days we were there.

Only down side was one coffee machine serving the whole restaurant queue of up to 8 persons waiting so by the time you got back to table breakfast was cold

Lovely hotel, great location. Our room required a little bit of maintenance ie the main overhead shower didn't work. We informed Reception at check out of our concerns, but it did not spoil our stay.

Yes. The actual building is smashing. The receptionists were polite, friendly, helpful and professional. All the bar and restaurant staff were also polite, friendly, helpful and professional, when they weren't complaining to one another about their working hours and conditions.

I have never previously had a disappointing experience with a Travelzoo offer, and we have travelled all over the world with you. On this occasion we had the following problems. 1. The were old cobwebs in the window of our room. When this was pointed-out at reception the very pleasant lady said she was sorry but no housekeepers were available and that the oversight would be rectified the next morning during the normal cleaning routine. This was not the case, and when this was pointed out the next afternoon, the receptionist actually came to the room herself and flicked-away the offending webs. 2. At dinner on the first evening, although there were only about 4 tables occupied in the restaurant, we were advised that there would be a delay in serving our dinners as they only had 2 chiefs in the kitchen. This was not a problem to us, so we order a bottle of Chilean Merlot to be going on with. After a while we noticed that the wine was in fact French. We pointed this out and was told that they had discontinued that particular option and replaced it with what we had been given - still no problem to us. When our dinners eventually arrived one was incomplete (a side order of chips included in the menu option was missing - this was pointed out and following a check of the menu by the staff, they apologised and the kitchen was informed. Sadly, when they arrived the meal was almost finished and anyway, the chips were under-cooked slightly. I didn't complain about this as we were already past disappointment and had given-up on the evening anyway. We were offered a reduction on the bill as a show of good will, which when the bill was presented wasn't on there. This was pointed out and eventually a 10% reduction was applied and I also asked for the service charge to be removed. During our meal we could overhear that staff complaining to one another about their working shifts and how they were not being paid enough or correctly - this happened on one other occasion during a drink in the bar. 3. At breakfast next morning we again advised that food would be delayed on account of the restaurant being busy (this could obviously have been predicted). Again we said no problem and enjoyed our tea\coffee. Next to us was a particularly loud and arrogant table of what I describe as "Hooray Henrys". Two of their number had already had their hot breakfasts when the remaining two arrived and ordered their options (this by the way was a good 15-20 minutes following our order was taken) . After about 15 minutes, they started to compline that if their breakfasts didn't arrive within 3 minutes they would be leaving. They very graciously extended this deadline to 5 minutes. We are still waiting quietly. Guess what? their breakfasts duly arrived within their acceptable timetable - we were still waiting. At one point a waitress did enquire if our order had been taken, but had no effect on its arrival. After one hour and about 10 minutes and the restaurant nearly cleared of diners, we decided that we could wait no longer and informed the staff of this. Of course much "flapping" went on and people were dispatched to the kitchen to investigate - we left. The hotel advertises itself as the best hotel in Buckingham - which certainly doesn't bode well for the other hotels. Sadly, it was not a superior experience.

We felt the hotel was a bit ‘tired’ in places & a badly cracked ( not recent) washbasin was quite unacceptable in our en suite. We do hope this will be remedied asap. Our staff experience was very satisfactory, and staff were helpful & attentive.
