Why We Love This Hotel

  • The hotel is next to Kensington Gardens, and walking distance from the Royal Albert Hall and Harrods
  • Many rooms have views of Kensington Gardens
  • The 3-AA-Rosette Min Jiang restaurant serves authentic Szechuan and Cantonese cuisine

Royal Garden Hotel is right beside Kensington Gardens, just a short walk from the museums on Exhibition Road and 20 minutes' walk from Harrods. High Street Kensington Underground station is five minutes' walk away.

You can take afternoon tea in the Park Terrace Restaurant, which holds two AA Rosettes. However, the real shining star is the 3-AA-Rosette Min Jiang restaurant on the 10th floor, where those in the know dig into the signature wood-fired Beijing duck. Order in advance as there is a 45-minute wait.

After a day's sightseeing or shopping, you can slip into the darkly handsome Bertie's Bar for late-afternoon coffees or evening cocktails. There is also a gym with fitness equipment and a health club.

The bedrooms have large picture windows, many with views of Kensington Gardens and cosy window seats. Triple glazing ensures a quiet night's sleep in spite of the bustling street below.

Queen Rooms are 21 square metres in size and have views of Kensington High Street and the Royal Household Mews.

The Breakfast

The room was definitely very small. There was a stain on the carpet and cigarette burn in the bath. The towels had seen better days. It was a nice touch to have the evening turndown and fresh towels. Plus 2 bottles of water provided. If booking again I would check the room being offered.

A waitress overheard me tell my husband I had forgotten to pick up the sauce for our breakfast, I said I will go and get it, when a waitress serving the next table told me to sit down she would get the sauce for me......going above and beyond

The staff were extremely polite and helpful, the hotel clean and spotless but best of all the room we had had a lovely view over Kensington Palace

I would have no hesitation staying at this hotel again or recommending it to our friends and family.

The relaxed atmosphere
Other Comments
The one part of the hotel that was not up to standard was Bertie’s Bar. Quite dismal, tired and the cocktails were badly served and over iced. Much prefer the bar in the Park Terrace.

Service at reception was fab - very helpful
Other Comments
Bertie's bar was cold when we went there for a drink - Basil at breakfast was very charming. Very noisy at the front of the hotel overnight due to traffic and police sirens.

Other Comments
Room and Bed were tiny, pillows uncomfortable. Bathroom suitable for a midget. Otherwise, hotel staff are superb and breakfast excellent. I will never stay there in a Queen room again.
