The receptionist was a bit gruff and not very welcoming.
I was surprised to be asked for photographic id. Luckily I did have my drivers licence. I’ve stopped in London 4 times this year and I’ve never been asked for my passport/id card/drivers license before

From booking into our room and breakfast, the staff really were friendly, helpful and professional, they couldn’t do enough for us to make our stay more comfortable. Kim from the bar was particularly friendly and helpful.
The Thistle is in a marvellous position just off of Trafalgar Square, handy for the underground and theatres.
The room on the 6th floor was clean and comfortable with fabulous views across London, we could see many landmark places including the Eye.
We would stay again.
Other Comments
Our only comment was in the bathroom there was a broken tile on the wall under the sink and the toilet was in a most inconvenient placed. My husband who has fairly long legs had to sit sideways on the toilet, unless you were particularly small there wasn’t much room between the toilet and the shower cubicle.
