Why We Love This Hotel
- The hotel makes the most of its location with a restaurant and terrace that overlook the River Thames.
- Stroll upriver and, in 15 minutes, arrive at Boulter's Lock (immortalised in Edward Gregory's 19th-century painting). You will also find Ray Mill Island and Boulter's Weir at its northern tip.
- Part of the National Trust, Cliveden is 10 minutes' drive from the hotel. Its gardens have year-round appeal. Discover the geometric parterre and hundreds of roses in the rose garden. Or find the Far East-inspired water garden and lose yourself in the hedge maze.

To be fair to the hotel this would take too long but our overall experience was positive. The managers and staff were friendly. The food was good. The room was comfortable and well provisioned. The hotel had an excellent position next to the bridge and fronting the river. It lacked class and needed a refurb.

Stayed for 2 nights with my sister to visit Windsor. On arrival the hotel looked a little rundown from the outside, and the entrance/reception a little shabby, which is a shame as the rest of the hotel was perfectly clean and well presented. The room was large, comfortable bed, clean, tea and coffee, and a bottle of prosecco on ice as per booking. We booked a river view, which although on the side of the hotel, we could see quite clearly. The outside windows could do with a clean for a more pleasant view. Breakfast was well presented, lots to choose from. Dining room very nice, and an option to sit outside on the decked area.
We had breakfast outside the first morning, lovely sunny day, watching rowers pass by.
Food was hot. The staff were very attentive, and everywhere was very clean.
Went on a return boat trip to Windsor which I would highly recommend. Staff were very friendly.

Hotel is in a perfect location for a boat trip to Windsor and walking along the river to lovely riverside pubs and restaurants. The hotel could do with a little bit of tlc in places but cleanliness and staff were first class.

All in all a very enjoyable stay. Nice hotel with a wonderful view of the River. We think that the staff also make a real contribution to this hotel. There were 3 members of staff who were particularly cheerful and helpful. Thank you Akshay, Shreya and Paul. We stayed 3 nights and ate in the Hotel every evening. Although the menu is not vast the food was very good and well presented. Choice of Continental and cooked English breakfast. If we were to visit Maidenhead again we would stay at the Thames Riviera.

The bedroom we stayed in was located in the annexe, no. 411 and in need of a bit of decorative attention. The bed was very creaky and a tad uncomfortable. Paint was peeling off the bottom of the bath panel where the shower screen leaks water and the toilet seat, although it was obviously cleaned, was stained yellow on the underside. A little off putting. All of which would not be too difficult to rectify. However the view from the bedroom was lovely.

The only disappointment was our dinner in the restaurant. We both ordered the salt and pepper calamari which had no taste at all except for the crumbed batter. Likewise the scallops on our shared platter. Seafood should taste like seafood so that was very disappointing

Staff went above and beyond to be extremely welcoming and help in any way possible. Food was a bit hit and miss in the restaurant,our starter was exceptional as was the pudding but the main course was lacking. Room was a good size with a lovely view,bed was comfortable but pillows needed to be a bit plumper.

Perfect stay for us - Very polite and friendly staff. Situated right beside the Thames, we had a room in the annex, balcony overlooking the river watching the rowers. Also took a walk along the far bank along an easy trail that goes down to Bray and beyond. An excellent breakfast plus ate our evening meal in the restaurant which was first class for food and service.

A very nice hotel situated on the river Thames. Really convenient for getting out and about. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance and some beautiful countryside. Lovely garden to sit and have breakfast or an afternoon drink.

Breakfast was a bit disappointing....depleted items such as fruit salad ,hash browns and mushrooms by 8 am. No alternative choices for vegetarian/vegans.
Non dairy milk was not available but the waiter on the 2nd day of our stay (Paul) kindly offered to pop to the local shop to buy but I declined.
Credit to Paul for being an extremely attentive evening and breakfast waiter!
Our Travelzoo deal included a bottle of Prosecco but we were given a bottle of sparkling wine instead. However, when I returned it to the bar the hotel was happy to exchange without quibble.

Whilst the hotel is generally a bit tired.
Our room carpet was rucked up and just needed a fitter to stretch it out, it would have made a better first impression.
Room was fantastic size, clean and tidy, could do with a bath mat to use with the shower to help with slipping?
To be able to to sit outside in the sunshine right next to the Thames, with swans, geese and ducks etc together with the opposite rowing club doing what rowers do. Staff were so friendly cheerful and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them.
Location is excellent being right on the Thames, if the hotel was posher the price would be beyond my reach.

Accommodation average. Breakfast adequate - limited choice and slow to replenish, food only warm, not hot. Drinks expensive - over £4 for a coke. Evening meal ok, but over priced.

Apart from housekeeping and the kitchen, two people only in shifts covering reception, bar, table service, - no wonder when I tried to call a couple of times before our travel, no-one answered the phone! Also, it was standard practice not to clean rooms unless 24 hours notice was given. Change of towels etc could be requested.

Very impressed with such an amazing hotel, as in the age and history of it. Beautiful scenery, so very peaceful and restful. All the staff were amazing. The room was amazingly spacious and bed was very comfortable. Lots of drawers and huge cupboard space. The food in the restaurant was superb. Thank you very much ALL at the Thames Riviera, we will be back!!

The only downside for me was the bathroom could have had a shelf to put some toiletries onto, from home, as there wasn't much accommodation to place items in the bathroom. Also, it would be nice if there was a small refrigerator in the room, especially if medicines are meant to be chilled!!

Great situation by the river, close to Brunel's amazing railway bridge. Requested a ground floor room, and were given one. Bed was comfortable, and a fair amount of space. Bathroom was cold, as there was a draught round the window. Took a while toi work out how tro turn on towel rail. Shower over bath would not work, as handle to switch water to shower had broken off. When I mentioned it I was told it had not been reported before. Dinner was standard pub fare, but well cooked, and good value for money and the service was excellent. Good breakfast.

On arrival plenty of parking. Great location, shops 15 mins walk away and Windsor 40 mins bus ride taking in area - (no. 37 in high street on way or 16 return journey quicker!) or 15 mins in the car. , Staff at the hotel very attentive and pleasant. Bottle of Prosecco in room and discount off food in hotel.
Breakfast included in the deal was self service, hot and plenty of choice.

Very disappointed by the platter we were offered for the evening meal. The bread tasted and looked like ordinary sliced bread, insufficient Hummus, too many olives. The evening meal menu wasn’t offering enough choices. Wine list was limited.

The hotel sells itself as the location is right by the river. WE were told on arrival that we had to pay £6.00 a night to park our car, and although that is not a huge amount, we were not informed of this beforehand.
However, as we pointed out a few things that needed repairing in our room, the manager waived the payment.
Our room was clean and adequate but the bathroom was very badly designed with absolutely nowhere to put toiletries. WE had to leave them on the floor outside the room.
We were also told that if we wanted our room made up, we should have informed them before our arrival.
we ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was lovely, and staff very attentive, but i thought the choice of food at breakfast was quite poor.
We did however enjoy our stay, which was very good value for money.

Friendly staff, good evening meals and an excellent range for the self service breakfast, The room was in the Annex, it was modern, warm (with adjustable thermostat) with a nice view over the Thames. we were on the top (second) floor. No lift but the stairs did not cause us a problem.

Food was poor - Hunters chicken was dry & tasteless. Mashed potato was dry & stodgy. They took one main meal off the bill, & two complimentary glasses of wine provided.
Restaurant had zero ambiance in my view.
We avoided the breakfast even though it was pre-paid.

Room overlooked the Thames which was great. But air-con was not good. Quite literally blew hot AND cold. Small bathroom.

Restaurant was cold. Ate there the first evening but kept our coats on. We were sat next to a radiator which stayed stone cold. A solitary fan heater made little difference. Ate out the second night. Breakfast was OK but the plates were cold. Also the food was not regularly replenished so the offerings stayed in the warmers a long time and subsequently dried out. Should be little and often, not a lot then nothing.

This is a beautiful location beside the River Thames. The restaurant overlooks the river, which is nice for breakfast. You can also walk to a number of restaurants if you do not use the hotel restaurant.

Spotlessly clean through out. Bed was super comfy. Friendly cheerful staff. Food was piping hot and cooked well. Home made Tomato and Basil soup was delicious at dinner.

When we walked in the room the carpet was all rucked up by the bed, the central light was missing an only had 2 bedside wall lights for a huge room, the bathroom was tired though very clean and the heating was a fan blowing hot air out, the window frames were all cracked and stuffed with tissue's to keep out the drafts. Restaurant was being heated by fan heaters, when I enquired if the heating was broken it was met with no response and they moved another fan heater near me !!!

An excellent stay, all the staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable.
The position of the hotel was lovely being right on the river with a short walk into Maidenhead where pubic transport is available.
Food was plentiful and well cooked with a good menu choice.
Rooms were comfortable, we had a river view with a balcony which in the summer would be a lovely spot. Again there is a terrace by the river for summer drinks.

The hotel is very tired not like the pictures on the website needs updating and repairs. Pillows and towels etc not good quality. Staff were great and very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant food was a very poor standard. The rables were not clean either. The rooms were cold and drafty windows. The offer was value for money but you can see why its cheap due to the place needing updating and repairs.

Although the air conditioner/heater seemed to often blow cold instead of hot (only up to 21 it seemed), there was an oil heater which we used instead and this was just right. The buffet breakfast was beautifully cooked and plentiful, being refilled when necessary. At the coffee machine, rather weak, the espresso was good and chocolate also available. Apples available at check in. In all, very satisfactory.

Despite all this the bed was comfortable and room pretty clean although carpet heavily stained.
The smoke alarm woke us at 5am and we had to evacuate . Unavoidable but not ideal for a relaxing break.

The hotel itself needs some investment (lifts installed and a general refurb) but having said that, there is a lot to be said in its favour. First is that the staff were delightful - very welcoming, helpful and friendly. Second was we had a very nice room with a double aspect view of the river. It was clean, well appointed and warm - no problems. Third, is the location which is both close to good restaurants and the centre of Maidenhead but also the River Thames Path is right next to the hotel with delightful river walks in both directions. Yes, the breakfast was a bit basic but for the price, it was all pretty good value for a weekend stay. Yes, it needs some improvements going forward but I’d go back, definitely.

Location right by the Thames was very convenient for exploring the area.
Guests should be aware there is not a lift in this hotel, but staff offered to carry bags up for us.

The room was in the annex. The furniture, curtains, decorations were lovely and high quality but it was very cold at times. There is no double glazing and the bathroom was freezing despite having the only radiator. When pulling up the blind there was a gap where a ventilator should be which was letting in cold air. Although the bathroom looked fairly new there were some parts that had been left around the bath that needed attention. The wall heating unit in the bedroom did not work well. Breakfast was good if you like a full English but the hotel was very quite so probably would be more choice when busier. Considering what we paid it was overall very good value.

Breakfast was overall good, yes the orange juice was ‘weak’ and if you didn’t want a cooked breakfast the choice was limited but overall it was fine. The evening meal was equally fine. Bedroom had a nice view of the Thames, clean and tidy. However like the ‘public rooms’ the bedroom was on the cool side and showing signs of age! Overall excellent value for money. Would I go back - no; but fundamentally I wouldn’t go back to Maidenhead ….

I went with my wife Cath, and met up with three fiends (a couple and a chap) for a couple of nights (Thursday & Friday). We had never been to Maidenhead before but enjoyed the town and walks by the river. On Friday night we dined out at the Thai Orchid and had a fabulous meal with excellent service.

The hotel itself was great value, the food was lovely, especially the evening meal and there was plenty of choice (hot and cold) at the breakfast buffet. But it was the service that was particularly outstanding, with the ubiquitous Paul on hand at every turn seemingly, to ensure we were looked after. The bar staff too were very friendly and accommodating. Our room was clean and bright with a great view across the river, the rest of the hotel was similarly well maintained. We were happy with the comfy seating in the bar area too.

A bit of a budget hotel in some aspects, room was excellent and clean with a river view which I had requested. It was however on the 3rd floor of very narrow twisty stairs. The staff were pleasant and the buffet breakfast clearly steered you to small portions using small plates and jam 'dispensers' which I have never seen at a hotel before. Worst orange juice ever (which was apparently a miss-order but still served). However you had only to ask and additional items could be supplied. Additional room tea/coffee was supplied 1-2 bags etc. at a time upon request.
The location was a bit further out than expected but near a bus stop if you didn't want to walk the 3/4 mile to the high st.
No communication was received from the hotel upon booking despite chasers requesting a confirmation and river view room.

The staff should get 100% or more as they were excellent. The location could not have been better being on the banks of the Thames. From our room we had a Thames view and it was really comfortable with one exception that the bathroom had no handheld shower for females and had no places to put washbags etc.
We had dinner twice in-house and majority was really well cooked and tasty, even the buffet breakfast was good quality,which is difficult.
All in all a really enjoyable stay.

Fabulous location, right on the Thames. We had wet weather while we were there so couldn’t take advantage of the outside seating overlooking the river, but I’m sure it would be lovely on a sunny day. I had asked for a ground floor room as I have mobility issues and there is no lift, and we were given a room in the modern annex building at the rear of the hotel. It was a lovely room, with French windows on to a patio area outside overlooking the river. It was too wet to go outside but would be lovely in summer. The breakfast was very much a ‘help yourself’ affair but absolutely fine. The cooked buffet only had scrambled eggs but we asked a staff member if we could have fried and the chef took the trouble to cook some for us and brought them out. We had hoped to have a Sunday roast there (as advertised on their web site) but it turned out that they are only available on the last Sunday of the month. No matter, there is a Toby Carvery a few minutes drive away (but you must book in advance if you want to go on a Sunday). We never had a problem finding a space in the car park, but we went in October - it might be more difficult at peak times. All in all, we had an enjoyable stay, regardless of the weather, and would definitely return.

The location on the riverside next to the bridge was very nice. This would be particularly so during a nice hot summer when full use of the outside space and decking areas would be more appreciated as opposed to the more overcast October days that we experienced.
The room was very clean and comfortable and had a view over the river.
We ate in the dining room each night of our stay and found the food on offer to be quite varied, of a good standard and reasonably priced. The breakfast buffet was also very good.
The hotel staff were, without exception, very efficient and helpful. As there is no lift to the upper 2 floors in the main building, some guests may find this an issue. However, it appeared there was usually a member of staff available to help with luggage.

The hotel underwent some 3 years ago a renovation, our room 108 on the first floor was adequate for our purpose and needs we are not the kind of people who need plush rooms. However the bathroom was poorly planned with virtually nowhere to place toiletries or your bath towel when coming out of the shower making it very difficult.
The shower itself was the over head style not particularly suitable for the small cubical and the shower water controls very difficult to set without being too hot (burning) or cold.
The electric towel rail was mounted next to the toilet in such a position that whilst using it you could burn your arm on the hot rail.
There were light switches mounted in the walls that had no purpose whatsoever having nothing connected to them, possible old light fitting no longer in place.
However the room and bathroom were very clean, as were all areas of the hotel.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, reception, resturant and bar all normally covered by the same team on duty at that particular time.

The room was lovely & spacious with wonderful views of the Thames. With our offer we got a bottle of Prosecco & free parking. We ate at two different places along the Thames both walking distance from the Hotel. Whilst we were there time visited two National Trust properties both 30 mins away & went into Windsor which took 15mins.

In the room no water for making hot drinks and a measly 1 tea bag and coffee sachet per person although I assume one could ask for extras. Also a charge of £3.50 to park .

This hotel is proof of never judging a book by its cover. Externally the hotel needs some tlc but inside is immaculate and inviting. The room in the Annex was spacious, well furnished and comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful in the restaurant overlooking the Thames. The staff were always on hand at the bar and were polite and courteous.

We had a really good time at TR room although small (bit of a squeeze in the bathroom) was overlooking the River through both windows, really lovely. Staff were 5 star but service very slow on first night due to staff issues but we were happy chatting and enjoying the wine.

It was really good. We had an Executive Room overlooking the River and the views were great. Comfortable bed and a large room as well. Breakfast was very good and the staff were so friendly.
We didn't eat there as we had already booked elsewhere but we will certainly return and this time, book a table.
We had a late night drink there and the barman made us a fantastic cocktail. Really enjoyable.

One thing that I think is important to mention. The bathroom was great, very clean and tidy but it needs a grab rail by the bath as even though we are the ancient of days! We have no mobility issues but it wasn't easy climbing in and out of the bathtub. A minor point though and it didn't mar our stay.

We felt the building looked very tired and in need of renovation, though our executive room was fine, the washbasin was far too small and really only suitable for a child to use. More handrails and hooks needed in the bathroom . Tables were left uncleared in the breakfast room. Staff were very helpful but could have been more pro active.

I booked this short break for our wedding anniversary and wasn't disappointed. Part of the deal was a bottle of prosecco in our room which we used(after asking) for our dinner on the Sunday of our anniversary. The staff were friendly and obliging. The views over the Thames were impressive.

The staff were all very friendly, attentive and welcoming. Hotel doesn’t look great from outside but the interior has been up upgraded and was always very clean. Our executive room was spotlessly clean, although we had an issue with the lock on bathroom door not working. Our room also overlooked the river and the local rowing club, which was nice to watch. Breakfast was lovely and fresh with a good selection of hot food and with poached or fried eggs being cooked to order. Our Travelzoo deal was excellent value for money and included a bottle of Prosecco on arrival! I would definitely recommend this hotel.

However with no lift and random sets of stairs some might find ot hard going getting to and fro. The service was good and the food good value. Coffees in the Cafe were a bit pricey however.

My partner and I were located in the Lodge section of the hotel which has a view over the car park. The bed was very comfortable and the room decor, modern and pleasing. Great shower but slippery shower base. My partner who recently had a knee operation needed assistance to enter and leave. Non slip decals I would urge be fitted and a grab handle. Also the is no shelf for shampoo bottle or shaving gear etc. They had to be placed on the floor while showering.
Most patrons seemed to be older and mature and would have experienced the same.
Location on the river is ideal and breakfast in the sun on the deck was very nice.
Overall, the stay was excellent value and we would consider a repeat visit

Had a lovely time at hotel, only slight problem was the breakfast as far as my husband was concerned. He did ask if was OK to have an omelette made, the young girl he spoke to said yes no problem. But then returned to say it couldn't be done. They were cooking fried/poached eggs as requested for people, but couldn't offer an omelette, not sure why. Food was lovely though .

We stopped initially for one night before going to visit relatives in the area. Then we returned for what should have been a 2 night stay but had a family emergency so missed the second night. However we thought the hotel was great, very pleasant staff, great position on the Thames for walks on the Thames path. We enjoyed the breakfasts and had a lovely meal on one of the evenings we were there. The prosecco was also much appreciated!!!

We went for a one-night stay at the Thames Riviera Hotel on a Travelzoo voucher which included breakfast, a most welcome bottle of Prosecco in the room and 20% off food at the hotel. The location is perfect for exploring Taplow Riverside and the many beautiful parks in the area. While the hotel is dated, our room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. The hotel overlooks the Thames and Maidenhead Bridge and it was nice to be able to chill on the terrace with these beautiful views. Apart from the included breakfast, we ate outside and would not be able to comment on the standard of food provided in the hotel. However, as there is no lift, the narrow staircases up to all the rooms would be difficult for people with mobility issues

We arrived for breakfast at 9am and was disappointed to see that many items including fruit salad, scrambled eggs, hash browns and bacon were not replenished, especially as the breakfast slot was supposed to end at 9.30am. There were no staff constantly checking whether breakfast items were constantly replenished and we had to ask a member of staff for bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns and fruit salad. This issue of food not being constantly replenished needs to be addressed.

The location is great. The staff were friendly and helpful especially Paul who supervised the dining area. The room was clean and tidy. The cooked breakfast was good but not a lot of choice otherwise. The hotel on the whole was a little dated. Overall there are more positives than negatives with this hotel & we would definitely use again!

Executive Room with river view was large clean comfortable and well appointed.
Not clear when booking that there are no lifts, the stairs are steep and twisting and in need of decoration. The room is not serviced unless requested a day in advance we would have expected this to be done automatically.
Breakfast was fine. Overall the Travelzoo offer was very good value.

The menu was incorrect. I had chicken pie, which came with veg, mash, and a gravy sauce. There was no gravy sauce. The potatoes was not fully cooked leaving solid chunks in the mash. I complained and received the gravy (the chef claims it was not part of the dish) but nothing was done about the crunchy mash

I advised the duty manage, that a sock had been placed over the smoke detector in our room (207), presumably for the previous occupants to smoke. Obviously the room had not been properly serviced and comprised our safety .

Enjoyed the stay on the whole....great location, lovely, friendly, helpful staff (particularly Paul who gave us lots of local advice and actually asked for feedback when we said there were some issues.) and huge room. However, apart from the size of the room it did not give an executive experience. Breakfast was top quality but limited. No fresh fruit to go with the yoghurt, only scrambled eggs, just croissants with no pain au chocolat or similar, no cheese or hams. Didn't appear to be any specific vegan provision but maybe it could be requested. We enjoyed a delicious meal one evening.

Problems with 'executive' room....The website showed bathrobes but they were only brought when requested. Told they are no longer provided and were in the images for marketing. There was only one small bottle of shampoo and some soap. Had to ask for more plus shower gel. No body lotion or other expected executive provision. Basic english tea (no decaf tea only coffee), no biscuits or hot chocolate. No big light in the room and it was a struggle to reach the switch for the bedside lamps from the bed. No non slip mat in the bath. The room was directly overlooked by the buildings opposite and to get privacy the curtains needed to be closed...no nets/blinds/shutters. The room was a great size with a comfortable bed, chairs and ample storage with a lovely side view of the river A. few tweaks would raise the standard to what we expected. If I had paid the full price I would be very disappointed and would expect a partial refund. For the travelzoo price it was still great value.

We had a fabulous time. Our room was spacious and air conditioned- delightful given the soaring temperatures. The breakfast was fine and the meals were too - not haut cuisine but perfectly adequate, and sitting on the decking watching the going’s on on the river was delightful. All the staff were lovely. There is nothing to dislike about this hotel - I can’t understand the negative comments. And the price was amazing. We stayed three nights and would've stayed longer if we could.

We were given a 3rd floor room so had to climb 3 flights of stairs. No lift as was a grade 2 listed building. My partner has COPD and I have a knee injury. We tried to change rooms but there were no others available. We went back home so didn't stay there. Room was paid for in advance so no refund.

Checked in on the Saturday, and were greeted warmly. Our room was as promised, and was clean and tidy. The hotel has a great location alongside the river. Renovations have clearly been made, but some work is still needed in communal areas. The outside space is great with ample parking, but the cost of £3.50 a night wasn't made clearly in the Travelzoo booking, so was a little annoying, especially as the hotel is not near any places of interest. The evening meal was okay (nothing special) but we ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and were not told the price which turned out to be £38.00! This was way too expensive for a bottle that was about the same as a supermarket brand costing £6-7 pounds. The waiter kept on about the special of "Duck Confit" but we didn't want it, which he almost wouldn't accept! He even told us that he would be having it later! Breakfast was okay, but the food kept running out as the chefs were not keeping up with the demand very well. Sausages were tasteless, and need to be upgraded. So does the cheap orange juice to something more fresh and tasty. Alcohol prices were higher than local pubs, but this is expected. Room was clean, bed comfy, and bathroom was clean and freshly renovated so all good here.
The hotel was a former Best Western and the new management are trying really hard, so we look forward to returning next year to see the improvements they are going to make.

Make more use of the excellent Riverside dining area, improve the atmosphere in the dining room and bar area (they have all the allure of a old people's home at the moment!) and the hotel will become a success again. The apartments opposite look interesting too, so maybe next time we will book one of them.

We paid £79 for one night bed and breakfast and a free bottle of Prosecco was waiting for us in our room when we arrived.
All the staff we encountered were friendly, polite and courteous. The hotel is perfectly located on the river and we were blessed with gorgeous weather meaning we were able to take advantage of the large terrace during the evening and enjoyed a meal and a glass of wine. A 20% discount was also given on food and we enjoyed a margarita pizza and burger with all the trimmings.

We wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this hotel. It’s a short stroll into Maidenhead town itself and although situated on a main road this didn’t affect our stay at all. We had a lovely room overlooking the river and the bed was large and very comfortable, there was air conditioning too which is a bonus. There was copious hot water and complimentary soap, body wash and shampoo.

Executive room large but not overly clean (carpet filthy). Great views over the River Thames. Supposed to be Prosecco in the room, it was cheap sparkling wine, not even Cava! Poor, when Prosecco was advised. I also emailed to stay in the Annex at the front, which was confirmed. Got a room in the main house & staff couldn't care less. Chef wouldn't take criticism on a meal I had (risotto, watery and tasteless). Told me it was wine and butter!! Risotto shouldn't be swimming in water! Pizza soggy and undercooked. Breakfast hit and miss with no cutlery, plates and running out of everything. Such a shame as in a beautiful position, it could be a gold mine.

Carpark is now chargeable at £3.50 a night. Shouldn't charge to park where you're paying to stay!! Also a high service charge is added to your food bill. This should be optional and I got it taken off the second evening due to bad service and meal.

The Executive room was large and airy on the first floor with a view of the river (somewhat obscured by the fire escape staircase) and the Maidenhead Rowing club. It was lovely to sit In the comfy chairs watching the river life and activities. We had a complimentary bottle of prosecco which was very pleasant and was chilling in our room on arrival. The breakfast was good but there was a bit less choice than we've had in other hotels, eg cereal wise or baked goods wise, but the cooked items were well cooked and the croissants delicious.Personally we hate to see waste and folk leaving half eaten food, but there was no wastage here, just lots of clean plates. The evening meal was wholesome but not overly exciting, and we were glad we had 20% off. The staff were very helpful. It's an old building, which they are smartening up, and for some reason they have moved the first floor reception area to a rather less smart location on the ground floor (albeit down steps instead of going up stairs). The restaurant looks out onto the river and it was great to sit in the sunshine on the deck area which is accessed from the restaurant.

The windows were very dirty, only 2 of them opened and the ones that did were falling apart when you raised them. The fire escape area which our room looked out onto was also very dirty. The towels were dirty and we had to get them changed. The breakfast was very poor, no fresh fruit available, only 3 types of cereals, No choice of bread or pastries, no apple juice. The hot food was not hot it was barely warm.

Spacious, attractive bedroom overlooking the river, bridge and entertaining rowing club opposite. Only minor complaint was the bed was too hot with a heavy duvet, suitable for winter, not summer.
All the staff, with no exception, were polite and helpful.
Dinner was average, but acceptable at the price. Same for the breakfast.

It is too easy to criticise any hotel, this one cert6has it's faults but when you consider the location and price there is no room for criticism.
The staff were polite and helpful the food was good, however two things could be mentioned.
I wish our room was serviced daily without having to request it and take note the car park gets full quite quickly so don't arrive too late.
Overall a good hotel at a good price.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. A large well equipped room, comfortable bed and a view over the river. Breakfast room/Dining room views across the river. Staff were courteous and welcoming. Within reasonable walking distance to the town centre.

The waiting staff were very poorly organised and forgetful. After the main course, we were asked if we’d like to see the desert menu. It never came. Eventually we did order deserts but around 15 minutes later we were instead presented with our bill. The deserts never did arrive so we decided to forego them. But we enjoyed chats with other guests as we waited!

Location, right by the Thames, is a real plus for the hotel - but not really fully used in my view with options for people to consider doing if staying for a few days (ours was 1 night). WAS TOLD THEYD HAVE TO BOIL WATER AND WOULD TAKE 15/20 MIN..NOT ENOUGH FOOD IN CLOSHES. ONLY ABOUT 10 PEOPLE IN HOTEL. VERY SAD. Sheets on bed were creased and I wondered whether they wete fresh.

Midweek break in a lovely corner room overlooking the River Thames. Room was very clean and well maintained. Buffet breakfast was fresh and plentiful. Dinner menu offered a variety of options cooked to order and well presented. Customer service was first class. Lovely terrace by the river to relax and enjoy a drink from the bar.
