Additional room card would have been useful as the power went off if you took the card out.
Poor choice of TV channels, neighbouring guests accidentally connected to our TV. No option to log into our own streaming services like Netflix.

Good hotel about 10 mins walk from central York area, walking to town opposite the river, overall happy, underground secure parking is £15 per 24 hours via RingGo app which I think is reasonable, and you can come and go as you please, Room was good a little dusty also has kitchen with fridge freezer cooker and dishwasher and plates, glasses and a wide range of utensils, toilet roll is cheap variety bring your own, only annoying issue was when someone closed the dior in the hallway my front door makes a loud banging noise probably because door plate slightly out, this gets irritating after hearing it the 30th time2

On arrival we were charged £15 per day for parking at the accomodation. On our first night after driving for 5 hours, we were kept awake until approximately 0430 in the morning with loud banging on the floor above us. The last time we stayed, there were croissants, Danish pastries and fresh fruit. This time it was just croissants.

Room itself was quite nicely presented, you had a fridge and a microwave, and kettle, induction hob, dishwasher and some cutlery and glasses. Didnt use anything but the kettle and fridge, they worked ok.
The croissant in the morning was quite nice, and the downstairs reception area looked quite nice, the outside seating area looked nice, and the location is nice and pleasant around the hotel with the trees and river just opposite, though I dont feel bad for not paying more for the room with a river view, as you wouldnt have seen it for the trees directly in front of the hotel)

When we arrived at the hotel, the staff could not confirm if we had already paid for the room or not. They werent really helpful or friendly at all, just indifferent really. I tried to check my phone for any booking details from Travelzoo but that was not much help, and I had to try and search through all of my bank apps (which took ages) to see if I can see the a transaction for it, but could not.
So in the end I paid for the room and got my key, and went upto our room (after about 20 mins of messing as above) and then the key did not work to open the door. I went back down to sort that out and was greeted again by the same indifferent receptionist. When asked if I wanted 2 keys, I said I would like 2 please yes, but was only given 1. At least when I went back up this one did work this time. The corridor up there smelled a bit, fusty or something, couldnt quite place the smell.
The TV didnt work at all, no terrestrial channels (or anything else). Tried to get something up on it but just got a black screen or a Menu to connect a chrome cast, that was it.
Tried to have a shower Mon morning, but there was no hot water at all. None.
Bed was quite thin and not amazingly comfy, but was acceptable, aircon seemed to have a mind of its own and turned itself off.
We didnt park at the hotel, as we feared not getting a space as it said limited spaces - I did hear a women at reception saying to the reception that she couldnt get a space, so what could she do, so looks like we made the right call to park elsewhere rather than chance it.
The coffee out of the coffe machine in reception was awful too.

The bed was extremely uncomfortable..it was soft and could feel thr springs. I complained but they were fully booked. The receptionist helped turn the mattress over and there was a blood stain on it. Also not enough parking..they said we could park on the yellow lines. However It was stressful to arrive and have to drive around looking for parking.
