Why We Love This Hotel
- Cedar Court Harrogate is a Grade II-listed landmark property dating from 1861. It sits on the site of Harrogate's first hotel, the Queen Inn, which was built in 1687.
- The hotel is across the road from the Stray. This 200-acre stretch of public parkland is ideal for picnics, games, and long walks.

My sister and I had a wonderful time at the Cedar Court Hotel. Lots of comfy seating in the lobby area, a really nicely appointed restaurant, with good food. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great position and we could walk everywhere from there. One small issue, to do with Travelzoo rather than the hotel, was that I had booked a twin room but it seems that had not been conveyed to the hotel. Luckily there was one twin room available but if that had not been the case it would have greatly detracted from our stay.

Had a very enjoyable stay. Room was clean and spacious - not ideal that it was above the back of the bar/kitchen and it's bin store so could hear every time rubbish was thrown out.
Food was good, particularly breakfast. Disappointed to be refused to refill my tea at 10.02 (breakfast ends at 10am) I wasn't looking to fill my plate, just fancied a 2nd cup of tea and tbh, hadn't even noticed the time. There were lots of people who had full plates of breakfast still to finish. Only a minor thing but, just disappointing.

The hotel is in a great position, room was lovely( although one mattress was passed its best we did mention this too reception. Staff were polite and helpful, good choice at breakfast, Ambers restaurant felt a bit over priced for quality of food having said that would definitely stay again

The room was very warm so we had to open the window fully as there was no air-con. With the curtain open to let in air, we could see the people in the next room sleeping as they also had open curtain and windows. They also had a bright light on, which made sleeping difficult. They could probably have seen us in bed also!
There were two mix-ups with our bills. Food/drinks being charged for that we didn´t have. However, the staff were very good and sorted out the issues.

The food was really good and the staff friendly - especially Lucy (supported by Gary), but I don't mention other names because I don't know them, not because they don't deserve it. The "modern" TV had a minimalist controller and I had to ask Alicia in the bar for advice on its use - she was very helpful and good natured.

We had an allowance towards food and drink on the first night but, as it was Sunday, there was a special menu priced on two courses. The food was excellent but the menu made it difficult to choose how to spend the allowance. The lifts are unpredictable about which or whether one will come on your call.

The hotel has been refurbished to a good standad everywhere was clelan, tidy and the staff pleasant. We stayed in a really nice deluxe room, the breakfasts we had was also nice well-presented, great selections and hot.
Our only disappointed was the long wait in the dining room for our evening meal on Monday. first night we ordered 2 chicken burgers around 7pm but it was a 45 minutes until we received our meal. The restaurant wasn't even busy probably around 12 people in there. No apology was given for the long wait and then a 10% service/gratuity charge was added to the bill?

We had a fantastic meal in Amber’s Restaurant on our 1st night& the Staff Gary, Eleanor, Anne & Mattec ? Really did us proud & couldn’t do enough for us.

We booked a Delux room through Travel Zoo & had confirmation of our booking for a Delux Room overlooking the Garden from Travel Zoo.
We raised a few issues about our room & non Garden View after the 1st night only to find we had been allocated a Standard Room not a Delux one as we thought. The Hotel offered to move us to another room but we declined the offer as we were only staying another night & didn’t want the hassle of moving our Luggage etc. They agreed to refund the difference in cost between the 2 rates.
On signing out the next day we were told there was no refund as we had only been charged for a Standard Room despite my request for Delux Room . This was annoying as I had followed Travel Zoo instructions for payment & also received confirmation of my Delux Room Booking with Garden View. This experience spoilt our short break especially after having visited last year with no problems.

Away for a couple of nights with my sister on the way home from Scotland. Helpful staff, nice large twin room with everything you would expect. Ate in hotel on the first night which was Sunday Roast. Food was very nice, cheese board was really lovely.
We were on a Travelzoo deal which allowed for free parking & late checkout, which was a bonus.
Only negative was the duvets were quite heavy, we didn’t mention this while staying & it may be this could have been rectified, but as only staying two nights it wasn’t too much of an issue.
The hotel is clean & relaxing, pretty gardens, the walk to the shops/Bettys etc is approx 20 minutes, we would stay again.

Although we had a lovely stay, we found the service in Amber’s to be disappointing. There was a delay with our first drinks order and then we had a fifty minute wait for our food. Sadly, nobody came to explain why there was such a long wait or offer to get us another drink. When the food arrived it was well presented and tasty however, it wasn’t piping hot as we would have expected from a freshly cooked dinner.
That said, the staff at breakfast were attentive and efficient and on the whole we enjoyed our stay with you.

We paid extra for a deluxe room but were disappointed with the actual size of the room also it supposedly had a garden view but the only thing we could view was a rather dirty gazebo and we reported a terrible drain smell in the bathroom which permeated into the whole bedroom to the reception staff I think they did try to sort on the first night but the smell was still there - they didn’t offer to move us or offer any alternative

A friendly reception area, our room wasn't quite ready, but they booked us in and while we waited we had some food and drinks in the bar and our prosecco which was part of our deal. Then at 3pm, as promised the room was ready. The staff were super friendly and very efficient, both in the bar and the restaurant, as well as reception of course.

Cedar Court is a beautiful hotel within a 10 minute walk of Harrogate town Centre. It is being refurbished and once it is finished it will be fabulous. The staff are all professional and very welcoming and an asset, we were very impressed. We didn’t have our full experience due to unforeseen circumstances, however, hopefully we will be able to return.

The initial room we were given was exceedingly smelly (apparently because a very smelly dog had been in there). We told Reception and the Housekeeper arrived to our room. She arranged for us to move to another room without any problem. That made a huge difference to our stay.

The hotel has been refurbished since we last visited . The dining room is now very stylish, colourful and comfortable. Dinner was very good indeed and we were well served by Roisin and Maisie throughout. All the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We decided to upgrade our room which enabled us to have a walk -in shower which was excellent. The shower room was very well designed especially the lighting. Extremely comfortable bed. Parking was included in our offer too. It is a short walk into the centre from the hotel. We would certainly stay at the Cedar Court again when visiting Harrogate.

We've visited the Cedar Court many times over the the years and it has been a pleasant visit on most occasions.We had a refurbished room this time and apart from a couple of glitches ( see below) we had a very enjoyable time.

Although the room had been refurbished the double glazed bedroom window had failed so that the garden view wasn't so good.Also there was a motion sensor light below the bathroom sink which was so sensitive it kept coming on then off all the time we were in the bathroom.There was a problem with the TV which didn't have a stable platform except on terrestrial channels.Finally we asked for a room refresh but since nobody had come well into the afternoon we took the request off of the room door.

We didn’t feel the service at breakfast or dinner was as good as usual We also booked an afternoon tea for 3 people one of whom was in an electric wheelchair (I had made staff aware) we were only able to eat in the restaurant as a large function had taken over the rest (we had not been made aware of this) The restaurant was very cold ( I did tell staff but nothing changed) and when we did go into bar area it was much warmer but realised it was cold as back doors were blocked opened (had the restaurant doors have been closed this could have mediated the issue! The afternoon tea was not up to the usual standard - sandwiches were fine but the rest was tasteless and disappointing. Our friend in the wheelchair (with later stages of MS) found a large Wet Floor sign in the loo which she had difficulty getting round and then the door closed onto her arm when she was trying to get out and had to call for help (should that not be a slow close ?) Our room was located at the front of the hotel near the Tepi which was the main area for the large function - busy and noisy but ok with that but the music was very loud and continued until midnight ! Again, this room could have been for a guest who was part of the function and we should have been located elsewhere.
We have been coming to CCHotel for quite a few years sometimes 2/3 times annually and feel very disappointed to feel that the normal service etc was not up to the usual standard. This all makes us feel that we need to stay elsewhere on our next trip to Yorkshire which is a shame.i

Everything about our visit was exceptional, the room was lovely, clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, they did everything they could to make our visit as comfortable and memorable as possible. The food was amazing, the evening meal was exceptional and there was plenty of choice to suit every taste at the breakfast buffet, and if you wanted anything that was not there, all you needed to do was ask. I like to have porridge and fresh fruit for breakfast, the fruit was plentiful, but I couldn't see any porridge available so I asked one of the staff and the chef made me some fresh to order. I can't say anything bad about the hotel, or its location. It was only a 10 minute walk into Harrogate and we finished off our break away with a visit to Betty's Tea shop which was a perfect end to the trip.

Overall the hotel was very good our only issue was with our room. We could see directly into our neighbours room which was very close as it was on a corner. This could be rectified by better window blinds or privacy glass they could see us as much as we could see them ( very embarrassing).

Restaurant staff were excellent as were the cleaning staff - you have things the wrong way around - the reception staff should be cleaning the rooms and the cleaners/restaurant staff working on reception!! The refurbished room was very nicely done - it was just impossible to spend any extra time in the room due to the excessive heat - it’s the worst three night’s lack of sleep we have ever experienced! Dinner in the restaurant was of a high standard - but breakfast was extremely disappointing - the toast was the best bit, which says everything really!? Parking was good.

dreadful experience when checking in. open receptio, queue of people. the receptionist said we needed to pay. i said we had already paid with Travelzoo. Se said she could not give us a room key until we paid. this conversation went on for quite a while. She was unsympathetic and like a robot just kept saying it was company policy no payment no key. it was obvious there must be a mistake somewhere but i was so humiliated and embarrased that everyone in the queue could hear all this that i paid again in order to get a key to our room. in private i founf details of my payment to Travelzoo and took the information to reception. She said she would speak to thee financial people next day as they were closed. it was of course sorted out and there was no fault on my part. Hardly an apology from anyone. i spoke to Declan who said he was the manager and he just repeated it was company policy i said how embarrasing to have the disagreement in public but no apology about that either. we were not even offered a free coffee as compensation.

Gorgeous bed linen and towels and good food. bus stop almost at the door enabled us to pop in and out of Harrogate centre in minutes or it was not too far to walk.buses were very frequent and parking in the town was very difficult.

We had a lovely stay at Cedar Court. The staff were very pleasant & helpful. Our room was well appointed with the bed & pillows extremely comfortable, however the room got extremely hot, especially during the night, even with the window open. This was due to problems with some of the radiators in the corridor - they wouldn’t turn off so heat was pouring out. They had had this problem for a few weeks & we were told ‘it was being looked into’. Hopefully they will get it sorted very soon as it is very uncomfortable for guests & staff. The bathroom was very nice, however there was a lack of towel rails/hooks & the shower screen was not adequate when using the drench shower as it soaked the floor. There was also a light sensor under the was basin - useful if using the bathroom during the night, however it only stayed on about 5 seconds then went off so you had to keep moving the re light it. We had dinner inclusive in our stay, unfortunately for us the food was served covered in salt with weird vegetables & extremely chunky (dry) chips - we were disappointed they were not serving seasonal vegetables. If we stayed again it would only be B&B

Great stay,convenient for walking into town and free parking on our deal. All staff were very polite and efficient. The room was very comfortable.
The dining room was upgrade is fantastic matched by the excellent evening meal we had there. Breakfast was very efficient and enjoyable.

The only downside was the hot breakfasts . Bacon , eggs and mushrooms were hard or shrivelled from sitting in dishes . Perhaps cooking a smaller amount and adding as needed . ? . It’s not often I leave food but the bacon was hard . This small adjustment could make a big difference .

Our fourth visit and the hotel is visibly investing as you can see improvements everywhere. They are updating rooms to a high standard so I would advise choosing one of those.
