Why We Love This Hotel
- The 5-star Rubens at the Palace is a great base from which to explore London. Some of the city's most renowned sites are on its doorstep.
- The hotel offers a "superb" example of "traditional, old-school British hospitality", says The Daily Telegraph. Its reviewer calls the service "old fashioned in the very best sense of the phrase".
- The property has traditional English decor, including marble floors and crystal chandeliers. There are numerous antiques, bespoke items, and original artworks. These include portraits of King Charles, Prince William, and the late Queen Elizabeth.
- Dining options include the English Grill and the Curry Room. Both venues hold two AA Rosettes. Afternoon tea is served in the opulent Palace Lounge. Live jazz is hosted most nights in the New York bar, where you can order from a signature Negroni trolley.
- The exterior of the hotel features a 350-square-metre living wall with more than 10,000 plants. It helps to improve local air quality and provides a habitat for animals and birds. It also helps to cool the building in summer and heat it in winter.
- The hotel's central location makes it easy to get around on foot. Beautiful green spaces St James' Park and Green Park are both less 10 minutes' walk. Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament are around 15 minutes' walk away.

A beautiful Hotel in the heart of London. Very attentive staff, nothing was too much of trouble. Our experience started with Raj who gave us a comprehensive insight into the history of the hotel and made us feel very welcome and special. I would like to mention Muna who made our Afternoon Tea experience unforgettable. Breakfast was excellent. And again, I would like to say thank you to Erika who did everything to make our breakfast a great start to the day. These are just a few names, but I would like to say that all the staff were very helpful and friendly.

If there was one thing that could be improved, I would like the towels to be fluffier.

Caroline was lovely amd very personable in the dining room and Raj and his guest services team were very welcoming.

The service in the New York Bar was terrible. We were ignored by several staff despite sitting near their station at the end of the bar. Also it took 40 minutes to be served food for our afternoon tea experience but this was not the fault of the waiting staff, the kitchen seemed backed up. When £102 each this is unacceptable.

We were warmly greeted at Reception by Charlie who checked us in in a professional yet friendly & charming manner. Our Royal themed room was Charles 11 & it was very comfortable & had everything we needed for a one night stay. Breakfast was wonderful offering a great variety. The festive afternoon tea was a delight too with endless sandwiches & scones if required. Special mention to the jolly doorman, Pascal & also to Rosie on Reception, who at very short notice changed our tea booking from 2 to 3. Staff give exceptional service at The Rubén’s & the interior decor is of a high standard that befits its 5* rating. I would love to make a return visit one day.
