More Reasons to Go

  • The Keswick Country House Hotel occupies a grand Victorian building near Keswick in the northern Lakes. Previous guests include Queen Elizabeth II and Kaiser Wilhelm II.

  • Public areas include a lounge and bar, and a restaurant with views of the gardens.
  • There are a host of walking routes on the hotel's doorstep. The property is next to a walking and cycling route from Keswick to Threlkeld. Converted from a disused railway line, it provides level access along its length.

Excellent hotel and all the Christmas trees were lovely making a nice start to the festive season.

All the meals were lovely All meals were excellent but on our second night meal was not included. A menu that was priced separately for each course would be preferable to a standard £45 tariff for 3 courses. For us 3 courses two nights running was too much!

The hotel and staff are lovely. The location is great for walking into Keswick or for walking in the hills. The food was excellent and wine was reasonably priced for a hotel of this quality.

The hotel was lovely Staff friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. There was one little problem in our room the window was very draughty . I was sleeping in the single bed next to it there was a cold draught blowing on me as it was quite windy outside. Just a bit of draught excluder around itw would help. Otherwise a lovely stay. Thankyou

We had a very enjoyable stay. The downstairs of the hotel was very grand with a lovely garden visible from a lot of rooms in the dining room. The food (breakfast and dinner) was delicious. A great deal of choice was provided at breakfast. The room wasn't as impressive as the rest of the hotel, but it had everything we needed and was perfectly comfortable.
Other Comments
Hotels have different approaches to sustainability and so we were unaware that we should have left a sign outside our room to stop the cleaner going in and servicing it. However, we had hung up our towel. Notwithstanding that, the cleaner changed the towel. I would very much prefer that all hotels adopt an approach whereby, if the towel is hung up, it won't be changed. We just want to save the planet.
