Because of illness ( cancer treatment) we were unable to take the booking so we're very disappointed as it was meant to be a birthday treat.

We had a lovely 3 nights with dinner included each night. We were in an annex to the hotel which had been completely refurbished within the last year, wonderful new waterfall shower. A very cosy room with everything we needed. The hotel itself is undergoing areas of refurbishing, the lounge and bar area were great. The restaurant area too was nice but lacked a bit of atmosphere at this quieter time of year. Food was good and the vegetarian options were excellent, plenty of choice and well presented. I used the pool once which was lovely, hopefully didn’t disturb the swimming lessons! This area could do with a refresh and possibly bringing back the sauna facilities, small gym area but new equipment. Changing rooms small and not clearly marked as to ladies & gents, difficult if dads getting daughters ready to swim and ladies needing to change but wasn’t a big problem. Grounds are beautifully kept and everywhere was clean and tidy and well managed. The hotel is in a beautiful position and we really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely hotel clean and cosy. Not a massive choice on menu but everything we tried was cooked well and very tasty. Small gym and swimming pool, we didn’t try these on our visit. Bar was friendly and we tried these local gin which was spot on. Good location for visiting the Lakes.

I booked late and rang to arrange an accessible room for my husband who has mobility issues. I was told the whole ground floor was occupied by a coach party and that an accessible room was available at the annex at the back of the hotel. The room was fine but my husband really struggled with walking to the hotel access to the hotel. We are ordered food with Kev at the bar both nights and the service and the food was really good. All the staff were helpful and lovely.

I know we booked late but would,it be possible to make the hotel and the gents toilets more accessible for people with mobility issues. It was too far from the annex for my husband to use the front door so he had to use the back door where there were three steps and then another three steps once inside the building. The gents toilets were also down some stairs and he told me after we left that he almost fell down them the first time he used them.

Room was clean and warm and the tea and biscuits supplied were very nice

The evening meal on the first night was awful. The sea bass was overpowered by the Salsa Verde, the crushed new potatoes were mashed, the tenderness broccoli still had the stem on and was undercooked and woody. My partners meal of salt aged sirloin steak was grisly and tough, the chips were nearly raw and inedible. The following night was slightly better as it couldn't have been any worse. The produce that the cook served was very very poor quality
