Staff were polite.
Other Comments
Food quality was poor on the evening meal and breakfast was very poor. Luke warm at best and hot food served on cold plates is a no no for us. The bathroom was newly done but needed a rethink, a very wide shower tray leaving limited space for the sink. The bed was far too big for the room (a divan bed would be more appropriate).

The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful
Other Comments
The food in the restaurant on the first evening was really poor quality and badly cooked and we cancelled our restaurant booking for the second evening but we were offered an alternative meal in another hotel in the same group which was slightly better. We will not be booking this hotel in the future. To be fair, the hotel refunded the cost of our drinks in the restaurant on the first evening.

It is very dog friendly and the staff cannot do enough for you. The receptionist gave our dog some meat from the carvery. There is even some dog biscuits on the reception desk in a jar to help yourself for your dog.

The bar area was cosy and the bar staff friendly and helpful. Restaurant was very nice and food quite good. Parking was good.

Initial reception was not as I would like as we arrived at 14:50 (check-in was 15:00) receptionist was saying our room wasn’t ready as it wasn’t 15:00 and they’d had a full hotel night before and all rooms had to be refreshed but she did ‘move rooms around’ As a consequence there was no prosecco in the room as stated on the offer, however we claimed this at the bar later. Room decor was very ‘tired’ a bit dusty and a cracked mirror over the tea facilities. Carpet, on closer inspection, had a few marks on. Window catch missing. We both slept badly as pillows were hard and room very hot despite no heating on and window eventually opened. Not the best experience.

Hotel was very tired in need of refurbishment, staff were very noisy and used bad language at Reception, there was no atmosphere, a large coach party of pensioners were staying at the hotel, which kind of gives an idea of what the hotel is used for. The food was very mediocre , I did upgrade at an extra cost of £40 to a 'Superior' room, but apart from overlooking a Lake, was NOT superior, all this was a big disappointment as it was for a special occasion Would not recommend or return to this hotel.

We found a very pleasant atmosphere and extremely friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast was very substantial, don't think anyone could complain. The menu for the evening meal was a limited choice, but most were well presented and cooked well. Overall we found the hotel comfortable but in need of an upgrade. We went on a Travezoo voucher it was extremely good value for money. The location is good with easy access to the Lakes.
Other Comments
The dining tables were very sticky. The chairs seats needed repairing. A lot of furniture in bar had torn seating. Do they comply with fire regs?

The staff member upon arrival was courteous, affable and knowledgeable. The barman was funny and very helpful. The waiters were attentive and got everything right. The meals were perfect, with a choice of 4 vegan mains and I had a specially made cooked breakfast option. Location was a lovely, farm track 1.2 miles walk to the 1st boat on lake Windermere. Great pool table. Room was very spacious with a very strong, hot shower.

Highly recommend for couples and families.
