The lady that booked us in claimed she could"nt do anything about our reluctance to stay in a room overlooking the main road. However, the road noise wasnt actually that bad. The staff at breakfast by contrast were very cheerful and extremely helpful. The breakfast was great and in fairness the room was really comfy. Overal it was actually very good.

We ate in the nearby Indian Restaurant. Astonishingly good food in a relaxed environment.
We were very well looked after by all of the friendly, welcoming team. Very comfortable and spacious room.

Sufficient car parking space and an hourly bus from Deddington into Oxford via country lanes and villages. The bus terminates right in the centre of Oxford....much easier than driving and trying to get parked.

Positives: Stayed for 3 nights and ate in the restaurant each evening and enjoyed excellent food each time. as well as breakfast each morning. Staff were very friendly and were very willing to help with any questions.
Negatives: Condition of bedroom was very poor with a broken roman blind in the bathroom and very old net curtains which should have been replaced long ago as they were very dirty and had holes in them. A side table showed severe wear and tear with a lot of scuffs and chips. A small single wardrobe was in the bedroom with an ironing board inside which took up half the space. This room did not look like the ones on the hotel's website. A shortage of staff on one evening led to poor service but this did not affect our enjoyment of the food.
Other Comments
Overall, we enjoyed our stay but felt let down by the bedroom condition. A relatively small amount of money could be spent on updating the room with new curtains, table and perhaps a larger wardrobe. The discounted price we paid through Travelzoo probably reflected the true value of the stay. The full price if booked directly with the Deddington Arms would not be regarded as value for money. The pictures of a typical standard room shown on the website did not represent the room we were given.

I would start with my wife and i had a lovely weekend at this hotel.
The Deddington Arms might be more of a traditional pub-with-rooms than a polished hotel, but what it lacks in modern 'wow factor,' it more than makes up for in incredible food.
Based on our room it is more 3* than the listed 4*.
The rooms are simple and functional; our particular room featured a very powerful shower over the bath. While the décor isn't the 'smartest' we’ve seen, it was perfectly adequate for a base to explore the beautiful village of Deddington and the nearby Cotswolds., Those with restricted mobility might want to check for walk-in shower options.
The village of Deddington is beautiful but there isn't much to do in Deddington itself.
Bizarrely the village isn't that big but the Deddington arms is in competition with two other pubs all 50 yards from each other. We had a drink in the other two and they were lovely pubs and both seemed busier than the DA.
The DA has a lovely refurbished restaurant but the Bar has more of a sports bar feel to it with 2 large TV's, its not the country bar you might expect from a Cotswolds pub and on the nights we stayed it had sports fans rather than couples.
The part of our stay that I think the DA excelled in was food. The restaurant is the smartest room in the building and the food was exceptional, we ate here both nights and we've stayed in much smarter establishments where the food is nowhere as good.,it has all the pub favourites on the menu to choose from, my wife is a vegetarian and she had no issue with choice either.
This continued at breakfast the next morning, to give this some context, we stay at quite a few hotels and this really was one of the best breakfasts we have eaten. The Chef is obviously very talented.
In summary, it wont be the smartest place you stay at but the location is excellent and the food exemplary.

Very enjoyable stay. The hotel was very clean, comfortable & the dining room was light & airy. Staff were extremely friendly & helpful. Our bedroom had plenty of room to move about. We had a four poster bed which we didn’t expect. It is an old property with plenty of character. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice .

The food is absolutely amazing, the breakfast and dinner, decent sized portions too.
The only issue is that the mattress in room 10 is very springy, could go with a new one ☺️
Thanks for a very pleasant stay

Warm welcome, very friendly staff. Comfy room...only reason not a 5 was because the bathroom could have done with a bit of attention - no shampoo though the back bracket was on the wall, and the seal around the bath needs renewing.

We heve been visiting the Deddington Arms for over 25 years off and on. It is convenient for friends we want to see locally and Deddington
village is very friendly, has lovely shops and a nice atmosphere.
The hotel has has many changes over the years
but the welcome is always warm and the food
and drink very palatable.
If I have one suggestion now instead of the tea on the breakfast buffet being in a table top
dispenser tea bags and hot water would be better to avoid it cooling off since it was prepared.

Easy to find; plenty of parking; helpful, friendly staff; food okay; nice wine; en suite a bit lacking - extractor fan not working so room steamed up; shower/ bath quite a bit of scale. Very comfortable room. Only 1 chair; perhaps another would have been good.

Quaint,Old, some parts refurbished or redecorated but entrance via car park needs a lot of tidying and attention. Our bathroom would benefit from a refurb.Very pleasant and friendly staff. Good dinner. Breakfast choice quite good for a small hotel but didn't quite live up to dining experience.

We had the most wonderful stay at the Deddington Arms. The hotel had a lovely atmosphere with it's mix of old and modern decor. All the staff were so friendly and helpful, felt more like friends. The food was well prepared and presented, the chief was very accommodating with my husband's dietary needs--nothing appeared to much trouble.
We are already looking forward to planning our next visit.
Thank you to everyone for a wonderful memorable stay.

Lovely stay at this hotel which is set in a small village- very picturesque but very quiet.
The room was quite dark due to the small window and requires a bit of TLC but was comfortable and had all the amenities we needed.
Food in the hotel was excellent - very good quality and plentiful. There were also a couple of daily specials available. Breakfast buffet was very good and good choice of hot food cooked to order.
Main asset of the hotel is the staff - probably some of the best we have dealt with. Each one was helpful and very friendly- keep up the good work!
