Why We Love This Hotel

  • Parts of The Olde Bell date back to the 1130s. This makes it possibly the oldest inn in England, and among the oldest in the world. Its sanctus bell signalled to the monks that an important visitor had arrived. It still hangs over the door.
  • The restaurant serves dishes made with produce grown in the inn's own kitchen garden.
  • Superior rooms are in the historic inn building or in the Malt House. Deluxe rooms are larger and are set within the Brick Barn. Luxury rooms are in the Main Inn or Malt House and each have a claw-foot bath tub.
  • The property is in the picturesque village of Hurley, close to the River Thames. "There isn't a prettier village on this graceful stretch of the Thames," says The Times.
  • Marlow is a charming town known for high-end restaurants and celebrity residents. It is an hour's walk away, most of it along the river.

Great place to stay. Easy for parking.. Beautiful quiet and peaceful surroundings. The staff were friendly, welcoming and enthusiastic. Our luxury room was spacious and the huge bed was incredibly comfortable. The food was great with plenty of choice both at breakfast and dinner.

We arrived early and were greeted very warmly by reception staff and our room was available. The hotel has different areas of accommodation and we were in the main original building. The room was nice and comfortable. All staff we encountered were delightful and very helpful.

Lovely area, good friendly staff, free room upgrade, good food, room large and airy a few minor cleaning issues eg mould on window frames, shower screen left with putty fixing not cleared.

Lovely stay would happily return, the minor issues did not distract from our stay at all

A fascinating historical location, set in a beautiful village and with easy access to other places of interest. The food in the restaurant was good, as was breakfast. My only caveat was that our room overlooked the kitchen and a noisy extractor fan came on at 5.30am both mornings. Also, be aware that the stairs to the rooms in the inn itself were rather tricky to safely negotiate.

We arrived on a beautiful sunny day and enjoyed our complimentary prosecco in the large gardens. We then took an afternoon 3 mile walk into Marlow. The following morning we explored Hurley which is maybe one of the quaintiest and most gorgeous village i've seen.

The staff are excellent and so helpful, polite and friendly. A special mention needs to go to Terry and Dominic, who both advised on lovely places to visit where we had lovely outings. Also, the ladies on reception were amazing and went the extra mile to help and support - always promptly and with friendly smiles.
Other Comments
We would have liked the prosecco that was advertised instead of the Pigalle sparkling wine!
