Appleby Manor is handsome Victorian property on a hilltop in the Eden Valley. Dining options include the hotel's main restaurant and the more informal 1871 Bistro.
This offer includes an Aqua Thermal Journey for two in the hotel's Garden Spa. Facilities include a salt inhalation room, a pedidarium, and hydrotherapy pool.
The hotel is on the edge of the quaint market town of Appleby. The town has independent shops and a riverside path that winds around the town.
You can visit the Norman Centre and grounds of Appleby Castle. You'll learn about the keep's Norman heritage and its history dating back to Roman times.
The North Pennines, Yorkshire Dales, and Lake District are all less than 30 minutes' drive away. A huge choice of scenic walking and cycling routes are on offer.
Lowther Castle is 25 minutes' drive away. This picturesque ruin is surrounded by 130 acres of gardens.

After booking the deal we were contacted by the hotel willing us that the offer of a trip to the gin factory was no longer available and nothing would be offered on its place. The room was not fit for purpose the small window barely open and when it was opened guests were smoking and vaping in the hotel and its ground right below the window. The bathroom did not have and ventilation or ceiling smelt damp. Not a good experience. Guests were vaping constantly in the restaurant and playing their own music which spoilt the atmosphere. We left after one night as it was unbearable. The manager Andrew Hogg informed us that 51 weeks of the year the hotel is a lovely place to be unfortunately we were staying in the one week that it’s horrible. Would never return. Waste of money

As a resident guest you were not given complimentary slippers and only a hand towel to use in the spa area … yet if you were a guest only fir spa facilities you were given slippers and a bath towel… 2 x different standards, felt like being treated differently and hand towels did not provide suitable relaxation fir an individual navigating from one spa area to another to preserve one’s dignity … did not find the spa or hotel sleeping accommodation provided the TOTAL RELAXATION which the hotel websites promoting… very disappointing as we had travel 6 hours to get there .

We decided to upgrade to a premium room for an extra £35 a night. The room was large but a bit 'worn'. The bathroom was huge and excellent. Only trouble was our room was at the side of the hotel facing the very nearby A66 (about 50m away!). Windows had to be propped open as it was so warm (obviously no air conditioning) and it was like trying to sleep on the verge of a busy road. Not ideal. It's rated as 4 star which seemed generous to us. Nothing like the 4 star hotels in Europe we have stayed in. Spa facilities were excellent and the food was superb. The visit to the Distillery (NOTE: it's a 40 mile drive away) was excellent and well worth the effort. Staff on the whole very friendly, but sometimes we felt like we were an inconvenience which was odd.

My friend and I had a two day spa break at Appleby manor Hotel & Garden Spa. We were given a very warm and informative welcome at reception on arrival, were directed to our room which was comfortably spacious with great bathroom.
The staff in the restaurant were outstanding , very pleasant and attentive to our requirements , made to feel very comfortable and relaxed. This was all enhanced by exceptional food , both in presentation and quality which we couldn't find any fault.
We finished our stay with a visit to the garden spa, fabulous few hours spent indulging ourselves in the spa experience.
The hotel is situated in beautiful countryside, great for walking and the receptionist was keen to provided us with lots of information on walks in the area.
All in all it was a great 2 day break and we got far more than we had expected. We would definitely recommend the Travelzoo offer to our friends and would certainly consider another short break there in the future.
