The Boathouse is within the boundaries of the Broads National Park. It overlooks "the watery wilderness of Ormesby Broad—ahaven of tranquillity all year round" (The Daily Telegraph).
The building was renovated from an old country tavern. Downstairs has a relaxed feel with mismatched furniture and an open fire. Upstairs houses the contemporary Double rooms with a subtle nautical theme.
Wroxham, considered the capital of the Norfolk Broads, is a 25-minute drive away. From there, take to the water on a Broads ferry tour. You can also hire a motorboat or charter a yacht.
Winterton-on-Sea is 10 minutes' drive from the property. Stroll along the long sandy beaches that northeast Norfolk is known for. In winter, look out for the seal colonies that come to rest on the shore.
Norwich is around 30 minutes' drive away. Lonely Planet praises the city for its "magnificent cathedral", "impressive Norman castle", and "thriving markets".

Unfortunately we didn’t pick the best weather so didn’t fully appreciate the location, but it looked very pretty after an overnight snow shower. It’s a wonderful place to stay. Accommodation, food, staff and service. They really go the extra mile and so obliging in every way.

This 2 night break was taken following a very stressful few months. The food was extremely good and the staff very friendly. The room (#3) was comfortable and clean with plenty of hot water in the shower.

Probably the only downside was the shortage of buses along the main road. About 4 per day in each direction meaning it was difficult to get about without using the car - but this is not The Boathouses' fault.
The vista from The Boathouse was superb and it was lovely watching the wildlife from our bedroom window and the restaurant.

It's our 3rd visit to this hotel. There are only 6 rooms in the main building so it's very peaceful once the excellent resturant closes. The view across the Broads is relaxing watching the wildlife. We always sleep well here && feel refreshed after our visit.

The star feature of The Boathouse has to be the quality and the quantity of the food - it was excellent and clearly very popular. For example with respect to the local community it was packed-out for Sunday lunch as clearly they appreciate the food and drink offering.

The staff were so friendly that it made the overall experience much better than at some hotels. They were also flexible and helpful and were a delight to interact with and made our stay memorable.

We were in room 3 with a great view overlooking the water and the ducks on the bank. We chose the lamb for Sunday dinner. It was one of the best roasts we had eaten, local Norfolk leg of lamb carved fresh from the bone and good portions of vegetables. It was little surprise on our experience that the restaurant was full. The breakfasts were equally appetising with a wide choice. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating. We shall return.

The location of the hotel is lovely. We enjoyed looking out over the lake while having our breakfast. The room was nice and the staff were very friendly and generous. There were a lot of choices for the breakfast and the proportion was good and was freshly cooked. We truly enjoyed the stay.

Four of us , two couples, spent an excellent weekend at the very lovely Boathouse. Very good value for money , wonderful location , great hotel . Food plentiful and good quality. Very welcoming helpful staff. We were fortunate to also have a beautiful sunny weekend which made the location look even more stunning.
We would very happily return.

One of the rooms was in the roof space. Lovely room with superb views but the sloping ceiling made walking around a bit difficult and the stairs up to the room were in the centre of the room and therefore took up a lot of space. There was limited drawer space too.
However the bed was very clean and comfortable with a good shower in the en suite .

The staff are friendly, helpful and professional. The hotel is very warm, clean and welcoming. The accommodation is spotless and well appointed. The food at breakfast and dinner was of the highest quality, well cooked, presented and served. The location is outstanding, situated on the side of beautiful body of water, with lovely views. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, there wasn’t one moment we didn't enjoy. Amazing welcome, all the staff really cared that we had a restful, enjoyable time. The hotel sits on the Broad, with swans and ducks happily strutting on the grass or swimming by. Amazing view from our window on waking, with a beautiful sunset to finish off the day. The food was sublime, and as difficult eaters to please, we could have stayed for a week or more and still not tried everything we fancied. Breakfast was just as good. The attention to detail in the whole estate is incredible and we would recommend this to anyone, and needless to say, we can't wait to go back. The 400 mile round trip is worth it, every time. Thank-you to all the team, we feel like old friends.
