Why We Love This Hotel

  • The Ormond at Tetbury is a former coaching inn that dates from the late 1600s. The property is in the centre of the honey-stone village—browse its antique stores and vintage boutiques.
  • Bistro 23, the hotel's cosy restaurant, opened in February, 2025. It serves seasonal, locally sourced food with a contemporary twist.
  • Rooms are individually decorated in contemporary style. Some have traditional oak-beamed ceilings and 4-poster beds.
  • The Victorian-era Westonbirt Arboretum is a great location for a nature-filled walk. The arboretum is 10 minutes' drive from the hotel.
  • Further afield are Castle Combe and the city of Bath. The former was a filming location for 1967's "Doctor Dolittle" and 2010's "War Horse". The latter is famed for its Georgian architecture and Jane Austen connections. Both can be reached by car in less than 30 minutes.

Lovely Old School Coaching inn. Room was very pleasant, nicely decorated, comfy bed . The room faced the main road but it was very quiet until about 6 am and the delivery Lorrie’s came but we still managed to sleep. Food was excellent but with a very limited menu on the first night due to some problems, still good though , breakfasts was excellent. Hotel was central, opposite Highgrove shop. No parking but there was a long stay a few minutes walk away by the church.

Sadly many items on dinner menu were not available on the 2 evenings we ate in Bistro 23. Asked to see the prix fixe menu, this was not available either. Breakfasts were good We stayed in room 19, all good apart from bed was way too soft and sagged in middle. When sitting up in bed and looking at the wall behind bed it was covered in dust which the lamp lights showed up!

Excellent value for money. Really enjoyed the cosy charming vibe of the hotel despite the ongoing construction across the garden view rooms.Very friendly& welcoming staff.

Park in the Long Stay Carpark - West Street Car park it is a 5 minute walk to the Hotel. Pay on the app and you can then add extra time for the next day, it was brilliant and no having to get up and go put a ticket on the car,

Lovely hotel in centre of town. Parking a bit of a nightmare. Room was comfortable, needs a bit of modernisation but nothing too drastic. Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Restaurant was very good for our evening meal, and so was breakfast.

We had booked two nights on the Travelzoo deal which included vouchers to be used in the hotel Bistro 23 for dinner. We were greeted so well when we arrived and given a truly warm feeling. Our room was well appointed and equipped. The only downside was that work was ongoing opposite our room to create what looks like extra accomodation. The staff in the bar and restaurant continued the excellent service when we went to dinner. The food was delicious. Breakfast the next morning was also delicious and the young lady looking after us, Annie, was incredibly friendly and helpful. Such a lovely ambience to start the day.
