Hotel details
The hotel is in Boroughbridge, a town on the River Ure in North Yorkshire. Originally a private home, it became a coaching inn in the 1700s. It was also an important stopover on the route from London to Edinburgh.
Today, it's a hotel with a cosy bar and restaurant serving hearty Yorkshire fare, which earned a 2026 AA Dinner Award. Guests also have access to the leisure facilities. These include a 12-metre pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, and a gym.
Allerton Castle, a Victorian Gothic stately home, is less than 15 minutes' drive from the property. The beautiful ruins of Fountains Abbey monastery are around a 20-minute drive from the hotel. Beningbrough Hall, Gallery and Gardens is around 30 minutes' drive from the hotel. The National Trust property houses a collection of 18th-century paintings from the National Portrait Gallery.
The spa town of Harrogate and Medieval city of York are 30 minutes' drive away. Keen hikers will also be spoiled for choice. The hotel is 30 minutes' drive from the Nidderdale and Howardian Hills National Landscapes. As well as the North York Moors National Park.
