Why We Love This Hotel

  • The property is in Skipton, a charming town near the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The Dales are known for their attractive villages full of stone cottages and cosy pubs. They also have many walking routes through river valleys and over wild moorland.
  • The hotel's conservatory restaurant overlooks the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. You can watch narrowboats glide gently by while dining.
  • Facilities at the hotel include a gym, an indoor pool, and a whirlpool spa.
  • The 900-year-old Skipton Castle is five minutes' drive away in the centre of town. It's one of the best-preserved Medieval castles in England. The beautiful ruins of Bolton Abbey are 15 minutes' drive away.
  • You can explore the scenic Settle-Carlisle line. With this offer, there is an option to add a return ticket to the line, which passes over the famed Ribblehead Viaduct. Select two or three nights when booking and look for the rate including railway tickets.
  • The Brontë Parsonage Museum is a 25-minute drive from the hotel in Haworth. The sisters lived there most of their lives while penning their famous literary works.

A really good place to spend a couple of days.
Other Comments
The stairways and bedroom carpets need a good clean. Otherwise the room was serviced well.

Our experience at the Skipton Hotel was a positive one. From the lovely calm (in spite of a queue of guests) and welcoming receptionist, through all the staff who engaged with us during our visit. Special mention must go to the chef and all the restaurant team on the Saturday evening, who, in spite of the large party in the Malham Suite, delivered excellent dishes and service for my husbands 70th birthday dinner, in the very nicely renovated Canalside restaurant. We were fortunate to be allocated a canalside view room, which was an added bonus.
Other Comments
Only criticism is that our room was a little dated and tired-looking. Although I hasten to say that it was nice and clean. I understand that the bedrooms are being renovated at the moment, so I hope that if/when we return, we will notice improvements.

The location of the hotel is within 5 minutes drive to the centre of Skipton.
Other Comments
The hotel was extremely dated and very much in need of modernisation throughout, including the pool areas. One of the lifts was out of order during our stay and we had no water in our room at one point, along with other rooms who were reporting the same issue, although this was rectified the same day. Our room was in the roof at the front of the hotel with a velux window, but the noise from the busy road at the front was very load when the window was open and could still be heard when it was closed.

We had a lovely 2 day break away. Booked a canal view room. Rooms are spacious & a comfortable bed. We had an evening meal on the first night plenty of choice & food was excellent. Also a lovely self service breakfast on each morning.
Other Comments
After booking this hotel we read mixed reviews about it and were sceptical about going. Once there we were pleasantly surprised easy check in room ready on arrival. Great location. Would definitely book again.
