Why We Love This Hotel

  • The property is in Skipton, a charming town near the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The Dales are known for their attractive villages full of stone cottages and cosy pubs. They also have many walking routes through river valleys and over wild moorland.
  • The hotel's conservatory restaurant overlooks the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. You can watch narrowboats glide gently by while dining.
  • Facilities at the hotel include a gym, an indoor pool, and a whirlpool spa.
  • The 900-year-old Skipton Castle is five minutes' drive away in the centre of town. It's one of the best-preserved Medieval castles in England. The beautiful ruins of Bolton Abbey are 15 minutes' drive away.
  • Take a ride on the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway. You'll travel from Bolton Abbey train station through the stunning Yorkshire countryside. The station is a 15-minute drive away, a few minutes from the abbey ruins.
  • The Brontë Parsonage Museum is a 25-minute drive from the hotel in Haworth. The sisters lived there most of their lives while penning their famous literary works.

Lovely setting by the canal , nice walk down towpath into town , easy parking for free . Didn’t get to use pool or leisure facilities due to lack of time but all looked good . Evening meal was ok , could have been better , chicken very dry and side salad very small for £5.00 extra. Breakfast was better . All in all would definitely return
Other Comments

Hotel staff very helpful and room cleanliness to a very good standard as to be expected. Location to the town within one and a half miles and easy walking along the canal footpath. Food was excellent and the breakfast was something to look forward to and real value for money.

Understand that there is a plan in place to commence renovation of rooms and once completed the rating could move up a star.

Great hotel in a good location overlooking the canal with a short bus ride into town. The restaurant had been totally refurbished to a very high standard since our last visit and the food was excellent. On Wednesday evenings there is a dance class taking part in the ballroom on the third floor and the dance teachers Colin & Heather made us feel extremely welcome whilst we spectated which was greatly appreciated.

The staff were very friendly and professional. The bar area was very relaxing and pleasant to spend time in (due to the poor weather outside). The breakfast was delicious with lots of choice.
Other Comments
Food in the restaurant. The Meat Feast pizza was made with cheddar not mozzarella cheese and the fries were overcooked. The decor was very, very dated.

The Skipton Hotel is ideally situated to explore the area, with free parking. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, made you feel very welcome. The rooms were clean and well presented with stunning views. The food was exceptional as was the choice and service. Entertainment was provided in the bar which was a nice surprise. You could access the gym and swimming pool. I would recommend this hotel for anyone.
