The Greenman is located in the picturesque village of Fownhope in Herefordshire. It is a 500-year-old coaching inn with an abundance of character. Sip local ales under ancient beams and tuck into hearty local fare. Or enjoy cocktails al fresco in the sheltered garden.
Hereford is steeped in history and less than 20 minutes' drive from the inn. Its cathedral houses a 13th-century Mappa Mundi—the largest Medieval map of the world in existence. Belmont Abbey and the Weir Garden both sit on the outskirts of the city.
About 25 minutes' drive away, in scenic countryside above the River Wye, stands Goodrich Castle. Run by English Heritage, the ruins boast a remarkable history. There are walking opportunities aplenty in the Wye Valley National Landscape. One of the most popular long distance walking routes is the Wye Valley Walk.
