Why We Love This Deal
This Member Days offer ends at 11:59pm on Monday, 18 May.
Burgh Island Hotel is a glamorous Art Deco hideaway that attracted the A-list in the 1930s. Nancy Cunard, Noel Coward, Lord Mountbatten, and Agatha Christie have all been guests here. The private island is the setting for Christie's And Then There Were None and Evil Under the Sun.
Spend two nights there for £549. We've negotiated this offer for our Club Members only, and it saves £420–£465 on the lowest prices we found online.
Each room and suite is individually decorated in the Art Deco style. Most are named after celebrity visitors. Luxe Double rooms have balconies and sea views. Guest amenities include bathrobes, bespoke toiletries, and Devon fudge. There are no televisions.
The Grand Ballroom hosts black-tie dining every night. Or you can sample fresh seafood in The Nettlefold restaurant.
The Palm Court Lounge—with its magnificent stained-glass ceiling—is the venue for cream tea, included in this offer. In the evening, it turns into the Cocktail Club: perfect for a pre-dinner tipple.
Get a treatment at the hotel spa or play tennis and croquet by the sea. The snooker room houses the hotel's first table.
The cosy Pilchard Inn dates back 700 years. Once a smuggler's haunt, the pub has low ceilings, open fires, and locally brewed beers.
Access to the tidal island is from the mainland. Guests arrive either by a hotel car or by a quaint sea tractor, depending on tide times.
How to Book: Purchase a voucher from Travelzoo then call 01548 810514 or email the hotel at reception@burghisland.com to reserve your dates. Each guestroom is unique. Guests may request a specific room upon booking; however, while every effort will be made to assist with the request, this cannot be guaranteed. Reservations are subject to availability and early booking is encouraged. Restaurant reservations are subject to availability; please call the hotel ahead of your visit to confirm availability. A formal dress code (black tie and evening dress) applies in the Grand Ballroom.
Voucher Cancellation & Refund Policy: Within 14 days of purchase, Travelzoo will give you a full refund if you change your mind or can't find dates that suit you. Once you book your dates, changes and cancellations are subject to the hotel's cancellation or rescheduling policy and may result in a fee or voucher forfeiture. The Hotel is dripping with Art Deco authenticity. You are stepping back, as much as possible , to the days of Noel Coward, Agatha Christie and the beautiful ( and generally entitled) people of the 20's and 30's.

It is a unique experience and very special. The hotel is beautiful and rooms are stylish. Ours was very small though - the bathroom was bigger! The staff were brilliant on the whole

A small fridge in the room for milk etc. would be great! There could be more lounge areas (ie. with settees etc.) for afternoon reading. The staff were fabulous, especially Richard who drove us and the waitresses who served us who could not have been more lovely. The red headed guy on reception was also great as was Zoe the masseuse (one of the best massages I've ever had). The only let down was the receptionist who checked us out - I found her actually quite rude. I didn't realise we got books and wine and I don't think she would have given them to us unless I'd asked as I saw it on the email. Then we had to go back and ask for the wine twice as she hadn't got it. The last time she looked at me as if to say ok, ok, but we were waiting to leave (holding the car with other people in it up) and she was giving no signs of getting it - she was not on teh front desk and was doing something else. I actually felt pretty stupid and almost didn't bother waiting for it.

We enjoyed our time at Burgh Island Hotel, which I booked as my wife loves the Art Deco period. The hotel exceeded her expectations.
The food and service was very good. The only slight downside for us was that we were the only customers in The Pilchard Inn on our first night and the only ones in the Nettlefold restaurant on our second night.

It was a fantastic short break in a beautiful art deco horel. It was wonderful to be able to dress up in the evenings and enjoy the live bands. The view from the room was breathtaking. Crossing to the island on the sea tractor was fun. The staff were amazing.

Food was excellent and the setting idyllic. Staff tried hard and were nice people.
Other Comments
Staff were untrained. Some looked grubby as unshaven and didn’t ‘look’ the part. Their dress code was an attempt to be smart but wasn’t. Slovenly is the overall impression. Being served a dish of food with the waiter leaning across my wife instead of walking round to deliver the food is plainly bad training. Forgetting what drinks were ordered happened 3 times by 3 different staff - oh dear, I could go on. I regret paying over £1500 for 2 nights (paid extra for an upgrade as it was for a special birthday treat)
Upgraded to a suite but was disappointed. No shower, bath water not hot on second night, soaps weren’t anything special and no hair conditioner. Our room wasn’t given a turn down or tidy on the second night. Furniture was art deco but so worn. No real ambiance.

A unique experience, loved the art deco, the tractor ride, the 4x4 drive. Greeted with bubbles, a very nice touch. The room was very comfortable, tea, coffee and shortbread and fudge. The continental breakfast was very good. However, the service at breakfast was slow and the hot food was not hot. Other guests seemed to say the same about the breakfast which was disappointing especially when the ambience in the breakfast room was so good.
The dinner in the grand ballroom was excellent with very attentive staff, excellent food, served in a timely manner.

Fabulous location and views. Bedroom was a bit tired and the windows were very draughty- one had a broken catch and couldn’t be closed. Public spaces very well appointed and true to the period, food good and staff attentive. Fun experience overall.
