"Excellent location being a few minutes walk to one of Britain’s loveliest beaches. Food at the hotel is very good and staff very friendly. Very warm welcome by Rosalind on the Reception Desk. Liked so much that we’re returning later this year."

Why We Love This Hotel

  • Knoll House is five minutes' walk from Studland Bay—a location The Daily Telegraph calls "sensational". The 4-mile-long beach has crystal-clear waters and views of Old Harry Rocks.
  • The hotel was a regular retreat of author Enid Blyton. Several local landmarks— Studland and Corfe Castle among them—inspired settings in her stories.
  • Leisure facilities include a pitch-and-putt course, tennis courts, and an indoor swimming pool. Other facilities include a games room and a cinema room. Children stay for free but are charged for meals as taken.
  • Swanage, which has a pier and a steam railway, is around 15 minutes' drive away. You can also visit Fort Henry, a 15-minute walk from the hotel. This is where Winston Churchill, President Eisenhower, and George VI watched troops prepare for D-Day.
  • You can drive 35 minutes to see Durdle Door, one of the most photographed spots in the UK.
  • For a scenic hike, follow the South West Coast Path towards Shell Bay. A ferry runs across to Sandbanks peninsula every 20 minutes.

Unfortunately the hotel had bad water leaks & therefore had to cancel. Staff were very helpful and helpful and advised that they would arrange a full refund. I would look forward to visiting next year.

The hotel cancelled the four rooms that I booked saying that they had an underground water pipe burst. Hope this is true

Enjoyable short break, 3rd visit here and stays the same - so don’t change it. The staff were brilliant with a nothing too much trouble attitude.

Room 35 - bathroom had far to much black Mold around the bath, also a broken tile. a bit of elbow grease and a new tile isn’t really a big ask..

Hotel full of character but standard of bedroom and bathroom was poor. Clear that nothing is being spent on maintenance and updating. Food was good.

Our third visit but probably our last. Sad that it’s being allowed to deteriorate as the owners try to get planning permission for destruction of the original buildings for an ugly new build.

I booked the hotel just a day before the arrival as it was still showing availability. However after wasting my time going through with the booking I was called by the hotel that they are fully booked. I was very disappointed because if I knew it was not available I would look for something else.
