- The hotel is less than 10 minutes' drive from Clacton-on-Sea. This bustling coastal town has a pleasure pier, beaches, theatres, and family-friendly amusements.
- The genteel seaside resort of Frinton-on-Sea is around 15 minutes away by car. Find a promenade, colourful Victorian-style beach huts, and tea rooms aplenty.
- Spot common and grey seals at Hamford Water National Nature Reserve. Or visit the Essex Wildlife Trust Naze Nature Discovery Centre, situated beside Naze Tower. Both are approximately 20 minutes' drive away.
- Lavenham is just under an hour's drive from the hotel. It's considered Britain's best preserved Medieval village and was a filming location for "Harry Potter".

Staff were fine
Best thing was checking out after 1 night instead of the 2
Other Comments
Breakfast poorly cooked
Evening meal poor quality overcooked fish.
Worst of all going in and out of the rooms upstairs as the staircase was in the lounge/ bar area, which was quite well used probably by locals as nowhere very near to go

Need more professional staff, need to train existing staff - trying their best but making the kingscliff look not its best. . Very clean. Very comfy bed. Staff need to be more attentive to paying guests not just the people waiting to collect their children from the local school. Could be really lovely.

Not much choice for breakfast & cold when served every day.

Very good experience once a problem was sorted out on arrival. I had forgotten to take the pin numbers
within the paperwork and the receptionist helped in every way to solve the problem.

There is an area at the back that could be used for smokers instead of smoking at the entrance which does not look good on arrival..

It was quite difficult to find availability and we were told the whole of July and most of August was unavailable despite there still appearing to be availability when we bought the voucher. We mostly enjoyed our stay and were happy with the location of the hotel which was opposite a nice, sandy beach. We had requested a sea view room and were told it would be an extra £25 for the whole stay, however, when we arrived to check in we were charged £25 per night and told that we had been given the wrong information on the phone which was very annoying.
The sea view room was quite nice and even though it was more expensive, we were glad we had upgraded as the other rooms at the back looked like they had an awful outlook over the carpark or unattractive block of flats to the side of the hotel. The breakfast was good but loud music playing in the dining room spoilt it. We asked staff to turn it down but were told it was not possible to.
Also, we had a full English breakfast both mornings but there was inconsistency in size and quality from one day to the next. Overall, it was quite good value for money with the travelzoo voucher but not so much if you factor in the extra £50 for the sea view!

We arrived at the hotel to be greeted in a really friendly manner by Leaha the manageress who went out of her way to cater to our needs. The rooms were clean and comfortable and certainly good value for money. Our only complaint was the merlot wine served at the bar, the worst ive ever tasted. More expensive and paletable wines are available

Good location close to long promenade walkway. However, no local facilities (shops/pubs/restaurants/public transport) if you haven't come by car.
Area quiet, flat, very clean & feels safe. Great beaches a few minutes walk away.
