Why We Love This Deal
The River Tweed gently babbles beside Ednam House Hotel in Kelso. This "lovely Georgian hotel" in the Scottish Borders "is full of character" (The AA). An overnight stay is £139. Save 18–22% on putting this package together yourself.
What's Included
Valid Sunday–Thursday until 31 March, 2026. Fridays and Saturdays are £10 more per night, payable direct to the hotel
An overnight stay for two people in a Double River View Room or Classic Courtyard Room (subject to availability at the time of booking) with cooked breakfast

Ednam House dates from 1761. It sits on the banks of the River Tweed, enveloped by three acres of gardens.
The hotel's restaurant is "set in the gardens, with windows on three sides offering great views" (The AA). It's been awarded an AA Rosette for culinary excellence.
Kelso Abbey was one of Scotland's largest religious houses. Its impressive ruins are less than a minute's stroll from the hotel.
From the hotel, meander upriver to enjoy the local Cobby Riverside Walk. Look out over the Rivers Tweed and Teviot, with Floors Castle in the distance.
Sir Walter Scott called Kelso "the most beautiful if not the most romantic village in Scotland." The Sir Walter Scott trail is a circular driving route starting from the town centre. It explores the places he visited, Abbotsford, and the scenery that inspired his literary works.
Melrose Abbey is the final resting place of the heart of Robert the Bruce. It is a 25-minute drive from the hotel.

Food is very good, but £30 per person towards the meal doesn’t cover one course if you have the steak as we did.

Tv too small in bedroom. Cobwebs, curtains should have black out lining. Charged 10% on meal allowance? Seemed to be given room furthest away from reception. Unable to eat in bar as hadn't booked?

We stayed two nights. This was the weekend of a storm in January and there was a skeleton staff working. The staff were all friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The food at dinner was excellent although the dining room could have been warmer. Our room had a river view across the garden to the Tweed. The bathroom was large with modern fittings and plenty of hot water. The bedroom was spacious, comfortable King bed and plenty of storage.

The hotel is lovely but in need of some refurbishment. Some furnishings and fittings need upgrading. The location is right in Kelso town centre and overlooking the river Tweed. Overall a pleasant hotel.

There was a warm friendly welcome. The hotel was lovely & staff were great & very helpful. The food was excellent too. The hotel is ideally situated near the town centre and yet feels as if you are in a country hotel, especially with it being on the banks of the River Tweed. The original house was built in the 18th century and has been extended over they years to provide more rooms for hotel guests. The original part of the hotel retains much of its grandeur but there are parts now seem old fashioned whilst some of the extensions have resulted in a loss of character. There
is a need for further upgrading in keeping with the original character and we were told that the present owner is gradually making improvements. No issues with staff or service.

Poor service from beverage department
Waited 50 mins for our cream tea only to be told that the kitchen are making some scones and won’t be long.
The breakfast experience was poor, only two staff serving the whole morning, the young girl was rushed off her feet and very good. The tables were not fully set, people were taking milk, butter, plates and cutlery from other set tables. There was one very slow toaster for the whole room which took an eternity to cook a slice of bread. Nothing was replenished unless you asked, no orange juice, no glasses for orange juice, no bread for toast. The Manager was constantly apologising to people.
The hotel was looking very tied, our bedroom furniture was very stained and worn. On the plus side, the shower was hot and plentiful.
Would I stay again, yes we think we would on a similar Travelzoo deal.

Wonderful! We had a really enjoyable 2 nights here and will definitely go back. The food was lovely and the staff were incredibly obliging. The only constructive comment we'd make is that the curtains in our room didn't fit and we had to keep moving them about for privacy, but we understand that the room is to be refurbished soon. The drinks were reasonably priced which is refreshing given that some hotels charge a fortune, which we will not pay!
