The Grade II-listed property was originally built as two semi-detached houses. It is rumoured that Anne Boleyn once stayed here in 1535.
The traditional pub serves British classics, real ales, and craft beers. A beer garden and outdoor seating are available too.
Robinswood Hill, a hilltop country park, is 10 minutes' drive from the inn. There are several waymarked trails to explore, and a cafe.
Gloucester Cathedral is 15 minutes' drive away. Dating back 1300 years, the Romanesque church was a shooting location for "Harry Potter".

The hotel itself is tired but attractive, however the rooms are small and below the normal standard. The offer we had included £25 per person dining credit, but given the prices and the 12.5% service charge, that credit did not go very far. Without exception though, the staff were helpful, polite and cheerful. Not enough for us to want to go back, but it needs to be acknowledged.

The room was clean and had all amenities. Staff were excellent. Dinner was disappointing - Chicken and mushroom pie with little chicken - a mess - and just mashed potatoe and gravy. Certainlt not worth the price. Still good value on Travelzoo.

We received a warm welcome from staff along with a delicious cream tea. Lovely cosy room, nicely decorated and spotlessly clean, we wanted for nothing. Only minus was the uncomfortable bed, so we didn't sleep well. Mattress was so hard and bed creaked with every turn. Food, both evening meal and breakfast, was lovely. We'd definitely return.

Fantastic staff, excellent food, small rooms with radiators not working etc etc. Photos of the hotel give no indication it is on the very busy Bristol Road rather than an idyllic remote country setting as it is no doubt trying to portray. Wouldn't visit again solely due to accommodation limitations, a shame because the staff are wonderful and the food is perfection

Room was very clean Dinner was very good both nights… great choices, but breakfast was rather poor… from overcooked sausage, fried egg resembling a omelette, black pudding reminiscent of pork scratchings…so today I tried Smoked Salmon and scrambled eggs and it was amazing … perfect eggs with lightly smoked salmon…Delicious ..

Lovely old frontage with more modern extension to the rear. Clean, comfy and tidy room but a little small but definitely adequate for a stay. Nice atmosphere in the bar/dining area and food cooked really nicely. Staff very pleasant and personable and would happily return. Thought that it would be in a more rural location but that didn’t detract from a great stay.

Although we thought we were going to have a “small double room” it was perfectly good size and the bed was bigger than king size. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and well furnished. We had the included cream tea which was coffee and a nice warm scone, lots of cream! The dinner menu was excellent and both enjoyed what we chose. Service behind the bar and the table staff was excellent. All staff very friendly. We slept well and breakfast was excellent. Continental choice was very good and as much coffee as you wanted. The hot choice was varied and the boiled eggs and soldiers was an unusual choice but eggs cooked perfectly. My Eggs Benedict was perfect.

The Thatch Inn is in a rather odd place but it is very convenient for Gloucester. Quedgeley is not a quaint Cotswold village! We really enjoyed our night here and it was very good value for money.

As value for money with travelzoo it was very good. If we'd have paid full price we thought the room was quite small and the shower quite small too. Bed was comfortable and when we asked for an extra pillow we were looked after straight the way
As we were pre booked we were surprised with our evening meal. Items not available on the menu and just rocket leaves and chips with my partners steak was disappointing. The £10 prawn cocktail was a small portion of prawns and we had to ask for a little more sauce. The sweet menu was disappointing too as they had no vanilla ice cream so many of the choices disappeared due to this.
Positive points, the breakfast was excellent and during our stay all the staff were very helpful and looked after us.
Due to its location on a main road which we failed to spot before booking id have to say we wouldn't stay here again

Just spent 2 nights to celebrate my partners birthday. What a cracker of a find The Thatch Inn was. Accommodation was clean and comfortable and the food menu for both evening and breakfast was excellent and food quality superb. A special thanks must go to Onur, Amelie and Vicky who looked after us. Our room was on the ground floor as requested but there was no way to enter the Inn for us except by crossing the car park which was gravelled. My husband mobilises with a walker so this was extremely difficult and tiring. Also there was only the bar room available which was the restaurant; the other room was under renovation, consequently there was nowhere to sit after a meal.
