Why We Love This Deal
Tregenna Castle boasts uninterrupted views over St Ives Bay and a host of onsite activities. We've negotiated stays there for £189 per room. Our research found it would cost at least £248 to package this offer yourself using the hotel's direct rates.

"The whole Tregenna Resort is amazing and beautiful. The staff are very welcoming and eager to help in any way they can. The food is of excellent quality and so delicious! The amenities are numerous and offer great experiences. I cannot recommend Tregenna highly enough. I love this place!!"
The property was built in 1774, originally as a private residence. It's set in 72 acres of sub-tropical gardens and the hilltop views of the bay are "spectacular" (The AA).
Leisure facilities include a 9-hole par-3 golf course, gym, outdoor playground, and tennis and badminton courts. There are also indoor and outdoor swimming pools.*
Pampering treatments are available at Castle Beauty for a supplement. It's open Monday–Saturday.
The South West Coast Path can be joined within 15 minutes' walk of the hotel. You can follow it to either the Hayle Estuary or the picturesque village of Zennor.
White-sand Porthminster Beach and Tate St Ives are around 20 minutes' walk away. The centre of St Ives, with a host of restaurants and shops, is a similar distance.
St Michael's Mount is a 20-minute drive away, and Land's End is 40 minutes away by car.

We enjoyed our stay and found the rooms clean and comfortable. I think they could improve on some of the food. The first evening the lamb dish wasn't available and the starter was poor in quality, quantity and over price. This didn't detract from our overall enjoyment.

A warm welcome to the hotel. We were on the 2nd floor and ,though we were told the lift would be mended during our stay, it wasn't. Our room was huge , with a sofa and lovely bathroom. Unfortunately it was rather cold as there was only one radiator and a towel rail. The bed was only a double which we found small. Breakfast was plentiful but the service of our evening meal was very slow. Our main course, though delicious was only luke warm and after a 45 minute wait for my pudding we gave up and went to bed !

A great place to stay, we would love to go again but another time we wouldn't bother dining in the main restaurant where we found it to be expensive, with an unexciting menu and unfortunately for us, VERY slow service.

Great experience for the money we paid. The three course meal via the deal credit was lovely. Our room was small but clean. The hotel was well decorated for Christmas and the grounds were nicely kept. Easy walk into St Ives. Our only negative observation was the bar area/lounge looked a bit like a cafe/canteen which let down the rest of the hotel feel. Staff were generally excellent. We would definitely go back on a similar deal in the future but would hopefully be more successful with a room upgrade request this time.

We went for a short break to Tregenna castle and paid the extra for West wing sea view rooms, in general the rooms were very fine, spacious and airy with views over St Ives bay.

The food could have been better, one of our party had bakes Hake wrapped in prosciutto which had to be sent back to the kitchen to have the risotto cooked properly.. I had the Chicken Capresse and couldn’t eat the chicken as it was really tough. I did mention it to the waiter.

We have stopped at The Tregenna Castle Hotel several times and will be back again, soon, I hope. The whole ambience of the hotel is relaxing, it manages to create an air of old-fashioned quality and style. The staff are invariably locals, with the no pets policy a particular attraction to us. It is ideally situated for exploring St Ives and many of the surrounding attractions. We were especially delighted to discovered the seal colony at Mutton Cove, near Godrevy Lighthouse.

The room was nice and spacious but the kitchen fan next to our room woke us up at 6am every morning and until 11pm. Then the lobby/bar loud talk and laughter drifted up to our room. There were cobwebs around ceiling, the shaving light did not work, there was a smell of urine around the toilet. The swimming pool and showers need some updating.

We stayed in room 84 nothing was wrong with the room, But a group of late-night guess sat in the settee area at the foot of the stairs they were noisy and inconsiderate, and kept us awake, which spoilt our stay. Some signage in the area even on the table might resolve this?

Overall, we had a fantastic experience and a lovely, comfortable stay. The staff were genuinely polite and friendly whilst providing an informative and professional service throughout our stay.
The food in the restaurant was delicious and expertly cooked. Although a bit pricey, we fortunately had a £70 room allocation to cover most of our 2 course meal and non alcoholic beverages for the first night.
There were some points which would have improved the stay.
1. Double bed was rather small
2. Unfortunately the indoor swimming pool was closed throughout the duration of our stay.
3. Maybe better sign posting of main entrance to hotel.

The room we were given was very plain, and rather tired. It also had a slightly stale smell. Further, it was cold, as the radiator was not on. The receptionist said 'It comes on at 3pm'. It didn't, but in any case on a cold winter's day it should be on before this. I asked at reception again, and this time the lady said 'It's linked to the temperature outside'. I always thought that thermostats were linked to the temperature INSIDE. At least we were given a portable heater. Later in the restaurant we were talking to a couple who said that the radiator was not working in their room either, and it was 'freezing' so they complained. They said that they were moved to another room which did have a working radiator. Before this conversation we were prepared to accept the situation, even though the mobile heater was barely adequate, but subsequently decided to mention to reception again. This time we were given a more plausible answer answer by a gentleman who said that it was an antiquated system, and sometimes there is an air lock, etc. He moved us to another room with a working radiator. It was a superior room with a sea view, so we benefitted in this respect, although it was still very plain. Plus the bed was smaller than the first room and it had a wood headboard, which are never comfortable. Strange that the lesser room had a bigger bed and a nicer fabric headboard. As regards food, we had dinner in the restaurant on the first night. Earlier, I went to the restaurant and asked if we could choose a table. A curt 'No - it's first come first served' was the response. Given I booked it several weeks in advance, and the hotel was very quiet, this was disappointing. Not an outrageous request! Turning to the food, it was, at best, 'OK'. It was rather limited menu, particularly for non meat-eaters like us. We shared a starter of 'Crispy monkfish' with a sauce dip. Monkfish is rather bland at the best of times, and needs a good sauce to make up for this. Unfortunately the sauce was also rather bland. My partner correctly said that it hadn't been reduced enough to intensify the flavour, The 'Catch of the day' was £29, which I thought was a bit steep, so I had cod and chips. The cod was tasteless, and not sweet as it should be. The chips were, similarly, bland. My partner had pea risotto, which she said was nice. Not a memorable gastronomic experience, to say the least. We decided to eat out on our second night.
As regards the 'spa', the entrance to the swimming pool had very rough stone steps, which were cold. They were more like external steps. Also once in the pool area there was water dripping from the ceiling. It was raining heavily, so we assumed it was coming in, as the roof did not look in good condition, although I suppose it could have been condensation. So, not a nice environment overall, but at least the water temperature in the pool was warm.

Everything about the place was excellent, that included the food. The only down side was the on the first night we had to wait an hour and five minute for our main course bearing in mind we didn’t have a starter. We didn’t wait to be served with a sweet. We can only put this failure down to lack of staff with it being New Years Day.
