  • Stoneleigh Abbey is "the kind of stately home that makes film directors go weak at the knees", says Lonely Planet.
  • It features woodlands, a bridge, a summer house, and a gazebo island. There's also an oak tree almost 1000 years old, and a variety of wildlife.
  • The grounds were designed by famous 18th-century landscape gardener, Humphry Repton. Works have since begun to restore the grounds as he intended. This has included the restoration of the gazebo and the reinstatement of the reflective lake.

Weather wasn't the best, but we were still able to walk around the grounds. Paths easy to walk even when wet. We were offered an umbrella to borrow at the tearoom. Nice that staff make the extra effort to ensure visit is enjoyable.

This was a fabulous offer and a great opportunity for us to visit Stoneleigh Abbey. We paid an extra £8 per person for a guided tour of the house and it was well worth it as Paul, the guide, was extremely knowledgeable, kept us engaged throughout and we would definitely recommend paying the extra. We had a wonderful visit.
