4 Adults staying for 3 nights. Rooms ideal for our purposes, service excellent. Not sure about having to pay for parking in the hotel grounds but at £5 a day the price is reasonable.

Wonderful. Only minor gripes are that there were not many other guests, so lacked atmosphere. Also the ambient temperature was on the cool side.

Burnside Hotel was very elegantly decorated. The location was fantastic for being within walking distance of the local sites I wanted to visit. The staff were very friendly and the room was tastefully decorated, clean, and had a shower with really good water pressure. The food was very fine, high quality and delicious.

I couldn’t fault the room facilities, they appear to have thought of everything! The executive bedrooms are excellent, comfy beds, lovely bed linen & towels, dark curtains and good bathroom with power shower. Staff very friendly and food good.
Other Comments
It’s a little unusual not to have free parking as a resident (£5 per night) however we did know in advance and we caught the bus into Stratford-upon-Avon, the stop was 5 mins up the road and easy to get back. Only thing I’d suggest is it’s a bit ‘white and bright’ in the dinning room of an evening - but that is certainly not a complaint!

The charging of extras ie car parking on site ( we did know this beforehand) but not breakfast extras if you wanted cereal and coffee such as flat white and cappuccino we were charged as extras outside our package. Although these extras were shown on the menu it seemed rather odd. Also if paid as part of check out VAT was added which we found rather odd as we did pay for drinks ie wine and cocktails during the evening whenconsumed withoutVAT bring charged.

Hotel is rather lovely, our room was on the annex near the bar. Lovely room, spacious and clean. Coffee and tea facilities, iron and ironing board and hair dryer provided.
Breakfast was lovely, we waited 50 minutes for a full English!! Poor waitress was run off her feet, making drinks and toast as well as serving.
Two course evening meal menu was very limited and it was the same menu for both nights. Was told by previous guests that the evening menu doesn’t change.
The Burnside appears to be very under staffed, which sadly effected their service.

Hotel location very handy for Stratford - 5mins in the car or 20 minute scenic walk. Rooms modern and very clean. The hotel seemed to have undergone a big refurbishment. Fixed menu quality and choice very good. There was very little atmosphere to the place and on our first night everyone had gone to bed by 9.15 - perhaps some entertainment would have encouraged people to stay up and enjoy the bar and separate pavilion lounge. There are a few rules which detracted from the whole experience; late check-in at 4pm - which meant we sat around for an hour and it was clear our room was ready at 3pm, the £5/night parking charges, you are tied to the set menu with no allowance to transfer the credit to what looked like a very nice a la carte menu and although the welcome drink had a value you could only have wine or beer.

The Burnside Hotel is a clean and pleasant hotel, in the quiet village of Shottery, and is an acceptable (just about) walkable distance to Stratford centre (a 30-minute gentle walk).
Would we stay there again? There are lots of things to like about it, but on balance, no (only just). The big disappointment was the dining experience (as mentioned above). To tempt us back the dining experience needs to be greatly improved.
Hope this helps!
Other Comments
The hotel is clean and pleasant and is in a decent (just about) walkable distance to Stratford centre (a 30-minute gentle walk). It is located on a narrow road in the pleasant village of Shottery. However, the bedrooms at the from are right on the road edge and ours did get a bit noisy with early-morning commuter traffic.
The main disappointment however is the food. There were no self-service offerings available at breakfast for anything, even the basics - water, fruit juice, fruit, pastries. This is the first time we've ever experienced this! Everything was table service, even the continental breakfast.
Check-in is a ridiculously late 4pm - why? Unbelievable.
On top of this, there is an additional car-parking charge of £5/night, and parking was limited with very tight awkward spaces.

The staff were lovely and food was excellent. Our room on the ground floor felt rather claustrophobic as small window was very high up and directly on to the road.

It ll felt very impersonal there were no special little touches and i didnt feel able to chat to staff like i have at other hotels. The breakfast choices were very limited and it was wither cooked breakfast or continental, no continental set out to pick yourself, was all served to you. Although we were parked in hotel crpark, awy from the town we were still charged for parking there

The staff, food and accommodation were superb. We had a very friendly welcome from Valentino who booked us in. All waiting staff were always really friendly and efficient- always had smiles and chatted to make us feel comfortable. Our room was spotlessly clean, very modern and cosy. Beautiful bathroom too with thick soft towels. Our bed was soooo comfortable too. We’ll look forward to returning with friends next time. Thank you Burnside staff!
