Bishopsgate House Hotel was a Georgian townhouse built in the 18th century. It retains interesting period features, including wood panelling, antique furniture, and a Chinese Chippendale staircase.
The property has views of Beaumaris Green, the Menai Strait, and Snowdonia National Park.
Beaumaris Castle was built by King Edward I in the 13th century. It is five minutes' walk from the hotel.
Almost all of Anglesey's coastline is classed as a National Landscape. The Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path is the best way to experience it first hand. Route maps for each of the 12 sections can be found online. Hikes from Beaumaris to Penmon Point, to spot Puffin Island, take less than two hours.
Ynys Llanddwyn is a picturesque spot and a 40-minute drive from the hotel. The ruined church was once home to Saint Dwynwen, the Welsh patron saint of lovers.

It was ideally situated on Castle Street. Hazel welcomed us warmly & gave information. The bed was comfortable (although I prefer a King bed rather than a double!) & the food delicious. We did feel that the hotel was a little "tired" & needed a bit more attention to detail.

Excellent experience from booking to enjoying the experience. Hazel, the Proprietor was very warm and welcoming along with Ringo her dog who was waiting at the door. Hazel was very knowledgeable with regard to Anglesey. Equally welcoming were the breakfast staff and talking of breakfast it was ample, freshly prepared and tasty. Our stay was very comfortable and relaxing. A very interesting and historical building where much love and care and attention to detail has been put in over the years. We certainly would recommend and return. Thank you.

Excellent staff but it's a bit more like a b and b. We paid extra for a bigger room on the first floor may have been a problem going to the 2nd floor but overall very good with a pub next door.

Excellent value with Travelzoo offer. Room comfortable and very well equipped for a small private hotel. Friendly helpful staff. Bara brith and Welsh cakes on arrival were delicious. We would have had dinner at the hotel on the first night, but the restaurant was closed as the chef was on holiday. They did let us know in advance and recommended the Liverpool Arms next door, where we had an excellent meal. Disappointed not to have any vegetarian sausages or similar at breakfast as we'd requested them the week before, but they mad
made my husband's day (both days!) by doing some fried bread specially for him.

Our first visit to Anglesey was a classic “wet weekend in Wales” but the friendly welcome and comfort at the hotel far outweighed this. The location enabled us to explore pretty Beaumaris between downpours and took a trip up the coast to Amlwch as well. The Welsh breakfast set us up for the day and was followed by a superb dinner on Saturday evening. A lovely stay which we hope to repeat.
