A good location. What was good - the decor of the rooms and the communal areas. Tasteful and clean. The breakfast was pretty good and the friendly service of those serving breakfast.
On reception, the person was good, but the reception was often left unattended, so it was difficult to make contact with a query. There was no telephone in the room.
The biggest negative issue related to the shower in the ensuite. The shower cubicle is quite small (I am not a large person). My wife and I were not able to have a proper shower as the water went from very, very hot to scalding. There was no adjustment to make the water cooler. It was not safe to be under the shower. I tried on the first morning but it hurt. so it was a case of having a wash from the sink.
I tried to report this earlier but no sign of the receptionist at that time. I subsequently reported it upon check-out.
The other thing was our room (Room 26) is at the back of the hotel. Both mornings we were awoken between 5am and 6am with noise from outside. It sounded like loading and unloading, plus the refuse collection. There is nothing the hotel can do about that.
My wife and I like to go to Eastbourne twice a year, and look for the Travelzoo offers. But we wouldn't go back to this hotel.

Wonderful sea views and breeze from opening windows. Clean, spacious, warm and quiet room with large king bed. Large bathroom with corner bath and tv set into the wall. Very small shower cubicle. A shelf, cupboard or hooks for wash bags would have been appreciated.

We booked a Seaview room at an extra £10 per night and it was well worth it was a lovely view from our room over the sea. The bedroom had a large comfortable bed with an ensuite bathroom and tea making facilities and a large television. The receptionist was exceptionally helpful and we are able to park outside the hotel with the aid of a voucher purchased from the Hotel at the cost of £2.35 per night to park anywhere in Eastbourne. The room and the whole hotel had been recently repainted to a very high standard in keeping with the era of the Hotel. The dining room and lounge were of a very high standard, but still comfortable!

The East Beach Hotel is conveniently situated on the seafront overlooking the sea and with the easy reach of the town and the promenade and the traditional pier. The breakfast was exceptional with good choice of full English or continental selection. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. We would definitely recommend this Hotel.

Decor throughout is tasteful and immaculate. Looks "just finished" everywhere. Room was warm, comfortable and totally draught-free, despite wind. View of the front stunning. Breakfasts very good, other food (mostly bar-type) very acceptable. Most accommodating staff - really outstanding.
