"Great place to stay; amazing to think it has been welcoming guests since the 1400s . Staff were all very welcoming and looked after us very well. We had 2 meals - both delicious- The breakfast was plentiful and all the staff in the restaurant were great. The location was excellent. We were able to park at the mermaid Inn, which was very helpful."

It was a beautiful historic setting and the food was excellent if pricey. Parking was difficult and as drivers of an electric car, we were disappointed that the hotel's chargers were out of action.

I had not quite appreciated how far away the sea now was, since my last proper visit to Rye which was probably about 40 years ago!

We stayed at The Mermaid to celebrate my birthday. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was quaint and in keeping with the hotel. We dined in the restaurant and found the service, options and quality of food amazing. I would definitely recommend a stay at this hotel.

Beautiful hotel based on centuries of history. Central to Rye which is like a time capsule. Quaint bar, charming character. Would love to stay midwinter and experience the huge fire.
Other Comments
Expect all the quirkiness of a very old hotel. Car parking spaces tight and limited but they try and squeeze you in! Restaurant only option of 2 / 3 course meal . Personally a main would have been enough, but there are bar options.

The general indifference of the staff, with the notable exception of the lovely lady on reception.
