Thatchers Hotel is a charming Tudor-style property in the heart of the Surrey countryside with a contemporary interior. Expect warm-wood panelling, pops of colour, and bespoke lighting.
The hotel restaurant serves breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner. The open-plan bar looks out onto the lush gardens.
East Horsley is a quaint country village with tree-lined streets. Horsley station is just over one mile from the hotel. From here, it's a 50-minute train into London.
Explore the neighbouring Surrey Hills National Landscape. Box Hill, for an abundance of hiking trails and sweeping views, is 15 minutes' drive away.
Polesden Lacey is a National Trust-owned country house, 10 minutes' drive from the hotel. It's set in a 1600-acre estate with elegant gardens.

Everything worked really well, except that the Wifi was unreliable. Rooms were nice, reception staff were very friendly. Meals were good (except that the breakfast eggs were more cooked that we would have liked) and the staff seemed a little busy at times (and therefore the service suffered a bit).

Our family room didn't have even 1 comfortable chair. Just an empty corner needing 2 chairs and a small table. Torn sheet on the bed, a chipped bath and dirty floor in the bathroom showed lack of detail. Otherwise the hotel was good.

Stayed in room 101, a newly refurbished comfy double.
The room was smallish but beautifully decorated. Could really have benefitted from a light in the wardrobe or at least in the corner of the room as it was very dark when trying to choose clothes. It was also very warm overnight. 9th/10th October.
Bathroom was at first glance beautiful. On closer inspection there was a very dusty extraction fan and more dust on the floor behind the door.
There was also a complete lack of WiFi in that part of the hotel. Quite annoying.
The reception area along with the bar and restaurant were beautiful. The staff very professional and helpful.
We had breakfast included and couldn't really fault it (except for the kitchen running out of brown bread. Although thete was plenty available on the buffet. Why not just take some through to the kitchen??)
We also had an evening meal there and my request for different fries was messed up and not put right until I had almost finished my meal.
Overall worth every penny of the price paid. £139 for 2 nights B+B for 2 people.

Nice hotel. Had one of the refurbished rooms. But they had used the wrong paint in the bathroom and the ceiling paint was pealing off. A very BIG NEGATIVE no wifi in the bedroom!

We had a wonderful stay from Monday to Friday in Aughst 2025. The hotel has been recently refurbished to a high standard. After booking we read some bad reviews on TripAdvisor that caused us concern but they were completely unfounded in our experience, this is a lovely hotel. We can confidentially recommend it

First thing was the menu was the same each night
Second was that the whole hotel seemed very stuffy, no air and maybe some towline gowns in the room, other wise it was great.

My room was upgraded which was a very pleasant surprise. The room was very spacious and characterful. The cooked breakfast was good but I'd prefer the bacon to be more thoroughly cooked.

The step into and out of the bath is too high and could be dangerous. Also the taps for the overhead shower, hand held shower and bath should be clearly labelled as it took me a while to figure out how they work and how to control the water temperature.

Booked into "cosy" room category - small, but recently refurbished and very satisfactory, except for NO internet! Was immediately changed to much larger "family " room on 3rd floor which was very stylish, and did have internet connection.

Room was not ready on arrival despite being about 2.30 so had to leave bags in reception (receptionist took them to room when it was ready).
Breakfast on first morning was not hot and delivered quickly we arrived for breakfast at 9 am. This morning the breakfast was far superior and hot on delivery a big shame it was not good on first day, first impressions count.

Only issue was the lack of full channel tv. My husband has Alzheimer’s so enjoys watching a wide range of programmes. Unfortunately there was no ITV or much else apart from BBC1/2, childrens tv, politics and radio. Very disappointing!!
