A warm welcome to an attractive hotel from friendly, helpful staff. Our twin bedroom was clean, well decorated and comfortable, although the duvets were rather solid and heavy, causing several wake ups during the night. Our friends' bedroom was equally good though smaller than ours. The food was tasty and well presented. The breakfast was good, but delays in re-filling warming dishes (in particular) bacon and scrambled egg meant that food already chosen and placed on cold plates was luke warm when eaten. Overall this is a lovely, comfortable hotel with great staff.

The friends who stayed with us at The Mill Hotel had not been before and were equally impressed.

Another enjoyable stay at The Mill.
Room was ok but could do with a little update in the bathroom.
The bar area was very cold , had to sit in our coats as many others were doing.
The young staff were brilliant.
Food was very good.
Other Comments
Please could the hotel put coat hooks on the back of the bathroom doors as this would help enormously when the bathroom has limited space.

Was surprised at having to pay a supplemental for a weekend stay. This should have been pointed out by Travelzoo and/ or The Mill on booking.

Fabulous location by lovely river walks with the town centre also within easy walking distance. Great views.
The staff are very helpful and friendly, food is good and beds are comfortable. Some of the rooms are bit on the small side and in the soundproofing in some is not good.
Other Comments
If going, book yourself a superior room, well worth the small extra cost.

We both really enjoyed our 2-night stay last week. The staff were brilliant and the hotel was generally very good, especially the bar, restaurant and outside areas. Some of the rooms are looking a bit tired but that didn't detract anything from our stay. Our evening meal in the restaurant was excellent too (I had crab and prawn linguine) especially the cheesecake (best ever). Breakfast was ok but I think more choices around a continental-type offering (cold meats, cheeses) would have improved a 6/10 score. Our room (48) had a lovely view out to the surrounding fields and river and it was also very quiet. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was large with a bath/shower en-suite. Parking for guests is provided just across the road from the hotel.

We would definitely recommend this hotel and would return again in the future.

One fly in the ointment was the bathroom extractor fan, which was continuos after light switched off albeit at a lower level. In the quietness of the night it seemed quite noisy and we had to shut the bathroom door tight to reduce it, but it was still annoying. This was room 41

The TV in the Room allocated was not working so had to move. No hot water for a shower. Hole in the duvet cover. Asked for a "quiet" room but was at the front of the hotel so alot of traffic noise. At breakfast on day 1, items were not replenished on the buffet until staff were asked. Better on day 2. Danish pastries served were under cooked.

Allocated a room which was very noisey. Continual jet exhaust like noise from kitchen and wine cellar exhaust. Very irritating and ubearable. Sleep was impossible. Breakfast was rubbish so we left after the one night. We could not stay any longer. A complete waste of money.

hotel is in amazing location with lovely view across meadow but we were put in a building across the road from the main hotel . we had no view and ,being at the front on the road ,we had no privacy. we appreciate we paid a discounted rate but feel we missed out on the true experience of staying at the hotel itself. that said the room was clean and comfortable and the tea/coffee in the room a nice touch.

Stayed during a heatwave, no fridge no airconditioning and the room in full sun most of the day made our stay especially overnight very uncomfortable. The fan supplied made no difference, If the temperature was normal still need a fridge at least.

The evening meal on both nights were taken over by a coach party, which meant we had to wait quite a while whilst they were being catered for before we could have our order taken and also eventually receive our meal. It was not a pleasant dining experience, which quite spoilt our stay.

The first room allocated was poorly cleaned and we were told it had a view but the window was so dirty you could hardly see through it. We were allocated another room complimentary upgrade but this had two windows facing a raised external bar area and one opening window above the riverside patio which was popular in the evening. The music from the bar beneath was audible all night. Not much of a upgrade

This hotel is a real find. The location is perfect for a stroll into town, meandering through the meadows across the river and a minute’s drive to a network of roads leading to nearby towns. Our room although compact was comfortable and adequate with a family of swans residing below the window alongside ducks and a very busy water vole. We had a bath (always a bonus for me) with a very powerful shower above it. The bathroom was a bit dated but clean with complimentary soap and shower gel. There was an iron and ironing board and a kettle with a very well stocked tray of teas, coffee, milk and sugar plus biscuits. Downside was no air conditioning however a strong fan was provided but quite noisy when trying to sleep. The temperature was 28 degrees during our stay.
Reception staff were friendly and efficient and nothing was too much bother for them however we couldn’t say the same about bar staff. Restaurant waitresses were lovely and worked hard to make our dining experience good. Although a comprehensive and interesting menu my choices were very limited at dinner due to my allergy to garlic and chefs being unable to make dishes with just or sauce/gravy without it. Breakfast was good with choice of cereals, yogurt, pastries, fruit and bread plus English breakfast items at the buffet. Eggs were cooked to order.
The hotel has its own car park and parking is free which is a real plus to drivers.
We will return to the hotel if visiting the area again and despite my evening dining experiences ( our friends enjoyed their food) would recommend staying there.

Good location and staff were pleasant. When I complained about the room, we were offered a better room (upgrade) which we gladly accepted.
Other Comments
The first room we were allocated was dingy and hot, we couldn’t open the window more than 3 or 4 inches due to health and safety, we were so hot we thought we might suffocate. The room looks over a neighbors garden, no privacy for them.
The shower was awful, just a dribble of water.
We went outside to enjoy a drink, the tables were sticky and not cleared of others glasses.
Breakfast -no choice of coffee other than a flask of filter coffee.

This is about the 4th time we've stayed at The Mill and look out for these great deals as a lovely cheap mini break.
Rooms not overly big but clean and all you need. Setting is beautiful and good location to explore the area.
The only slight criticism would be the breakfast. As the food is not replenished promptly so often empty plates/bowls until you bring it to tge attention of the staff.

We had a lovely 2 night stay with breakfast. We ate dinner at the hotel (sharing plates) and it was delicious. We brought our 2 dogs and they had a great time too. We loved the view from our room of the river and meadows, cows, ducks, swans and moorhens. The weather was hot and sunny but it was cool and shady in the bar and our room. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Breakfast was excellent. Great value and experience. Will definitely return.
