Hatton Court Hotel is set high on Upton Hill, overlooking the Severn Vale. The property is built in the style of a 17th-century Cotswold manorhouse.
The hotel's restaurant, Tara, serves a seasonally changing menu of modern international dishes.
Gloucester's 11th-century cathedral is around 15 minutes' drive away. The spa town of Cheltenham, known for its Regency architecture and leafy squares, is a 25-minute drive.
Painswick has historic links to the wool trade and is around five minutes' drive away. Its streets are lined with attractive honey-stone houses. The surrounding countryside offers numerous walking opportunities, such as the Cotswold Way.
Brimming with independent shops, cafes, and galleries, Stroud has a thriving arts and music scene. It's also renowned for its Saturday farmers' market and is around 15 minutes' drive away.
*All Country Rooms have been recently renovated. Two have been designed with open-entry bathrooms. You're welcome to let the hotel know upon booking if you'd prefer a room with or without an open-entry bathroom (subject to availability).

Open plan bathrooms in the refurbished area could be a shock if sharing with a friend instead of partner & Japanese sensor style toilet provided a laugh!

We enjoyed a lovely shortbreak basing ourselves at Hatton Court Hotel. The staff were excellent, the food delicious and the room was clean, modern and recently decorated.
The only downside to our stay was the bathroom. Clean and modern but missing a fourth wall! Open plan does not suit us. Avoid room 33 if you are the same.

The rooms have been refurbished since we last visited and are decorated to a high standard. There was no door to the bathroom which we found unusual!
The food served at dinner and breakfast was excellent.
The staff are friendly professional.

My husband and I enjoyed our overnight stay at the hotel. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious although the portions were large that we struggled to finish the meals.
It was a lovely drive up to the hotel and the views were beautiful all around.

Friendly helpful staff. Room good size and they had complied with my request for two single beds. Beds comfortable and extra pillows. Lighting in room inadequate. No good lighting over mirror in room. No grab rails in bathroom and bath side quite high as when getting older can present a challenge. Hot tap was scalding hot with no warning. No slip mat for bath. Lacking information in room about what was available. Lovely afternoon tea of scones jam and cream and evening meal good although found my particular choice a little odd but all the same the quality was good and staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing. The most amazing choice I have seen in a hotel for a long time. Again staff all lovely and friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and would go again. Beautiful setting and views. Really lovely few days away at a very reasonable cost.

We have been to Hatton Court several times and it was the first time we have had a room in the annexe which was totally unsuitable for us. My husband is in his 80’s and our room was up 2 steep flights of stairs. The room was in the eaves with cross beams which were low and we had to be very careful not to bang our heads. Poor lighting - no central light in the room only bedside lights. We asked for an alternative room but were told none were available.

It would have been helpful if we had been told on booking that all classic rooms were in the annexe and up at least one flight of stairs.

We felt that having afternoon tea on the 2nd day would reduce our time visiting the nearby towns and attractions. So the staff let us have afternoon tea on the day we checked out, which was a wonderful gesture.

Food was great. Lovely views from our windows. A relaxing place to stay. You can find signs of wear and tear if that's your thing, but if you go looking forward to a gentle time away then it's absolutely fine and dandy.

Fantastic night stay. The hotel is cozy and well located. Staff were very welcoming. The room was spacious and quiet although very warm. The restaurant food was excellent including the breakfast spread. A real highlight was the complimentary cream tea. Highly recommend.
Very impressed with the ambience. Enjoyed a peaceful afternoon sitting in the sun on the terrace. The cream tea was delicious and the evening meal was impressive. Allow extra spending money to cover desserts as the main meal uses up the £25 per head contribution.

We had good service. It was a little difficult as there are no lifts (My fault) and he has problems with climbing stairs. We were able to take our Assistance Dog with, at no extra cost. The kitchen very kindly provided food for him as he was being difficult about what to eat. He had cooked bacon and raw egg and milk for his breakfast. They helped with luggage. They were able very friendly team

We thought that the cream tea was very generous with 2 scones each and the opportunity, if we wanted it, to have the cream and jam refilled. It was lovely to have the cafetiere refilled. The food was excellent, as we're the staff that waited on the tables.
