Gemma on reception was great. I had a very dark bedroom on arrival and she immediately changed it for me. Sound proofing could be better - woken first morning at 0330 but someone having a bath in next room. Bedroom doors also bang loudly (can't be avoided due to their construction) so not good if a light sleeper. Staff all friendly and helpful. A good breakfast. Fabulous location. Garden and outside area could do with a thorough upgrade and rubbish removed. But would definitely return here.

Location was stunning and the view from our room was picturesque.
Staff service and hospitality was excellent and every effort was made to accommodate our wishes.
Breakfast was beautifully presented, wide choice and excellent value.
We had an afternoon tea which was rather disappointing as the scones were dry, cakes were shopping bought and not good quality and sandwich fillings were megre. The garden room setting was, however, beautiful.

Upon arrival and checking our room, which we paid an upgrade for, we found several issues which were lacking and which we informed the reception about.......there was only a small hanging rail with 3 coat hangers, which we felt was inadequate. There was no drawers for our clothes,so we lived out of our suitcase.
There was no shelf not electrical razor socket in the bathroom and as it was a room in the older part of the house there was a lack of extension leads to reach the limited sockets.
Felt rather unfinished and cramped for an upgraded room.

Ideal location to explore the surrounding historical sites, excellent breakfast, staff attentive, standard room a bit on the small side, clean and comfortable, stayed for three days.

The restaurant served a varied choice of meals, reasonably priced. My only gripe was a 10% service charge added for meals and snacks.

Really lovely hotel. The staff were all really helpful, particularly with gluten free options in the restaurant, even cooking separate gf sausages for breakfast, providing gf bread with a dedicated toaster.

The bedroom we were given was a single room with a double bed in it No219 and a pokey window looking out on a wall. We
complained and were charged £30 for an upgrade to a double room looking out on the grounds. Cooked breakfast was not fresh, fried eggs had crust on top, bacon was hard and overcooked. Room had tea & coffee making facilities but only 2 tea bags and 2 green tea bags each day

We upgraded to an executive room and after speaking to other visitors are really pleased we did. It was rather dark and no view but king sized bed and lots of room. Beautiful location but outside certainly needs some TLC and please remove the plastic flowers outside a main entrance.
Pub style food well cooked and prepared but did not appear to be any sandwiches etc available although to be fair did not ask.
Staff very polite and helpful.
All in all a good value for money stay with our Travelzoo deal.

Paid supplement for executive room which was worth it as very spacious and standard room couple we were with is very small. Breakfast was excellent but cancelled dinner in dining room for next 2 nights as 1st night found that menu is very limited as no specials as advertised, service poor we waited for main course until 8pm although table booked for 7pm and although 3 people I ate with had hot food mine was barely warm and I only ate it because hungry so just complained to waiter about it

The standard double bedroom was a single room with a double bed squeezed in. There was approximately 10" of space either side of the bed and the mattress was very, very soft. My wife and I woke several times in the night due to the uncomfortable mattress and couldn't wait to get up each morning. The mattress said it was a 1000 coil spring but there was literally zero support. It's a shame because the hotel itself was nice. The breakfast was very good and the general feel about the hotel was good - it was the bed that let the place down. The hotel should have stated there was limited space around the bed. They could have shown us the room, then shown us the two options to upgrade. Had they done that a) I would have paid the extra money, b) my wife and I would have slept better, c) I would have left a glowing review. I've done a few Travelzoo breaks and I'm sorry to say this but this one was by far the worst.

The staff were amazing, friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were excellent especially providing for Gluten free. We didn't have evening meals at the Hotel. Grounds are beautiful but outside pots just had plastic flowers among the weeds. No lounge to relax in at evening time and bedrooms are all singles really, made into doubles and so my husband and I couldn't pass each other. Bathroom very roomy and plenty of hot water and lots of refreshments in the room, tea, coffee, hot chocalate and bottles of water and biscuits. Room cleaned and new towels everyday.
Lots of pluses just a few negatives.

Lovely location. Good breakfast. Beautiful in the original part however we were in a room in the extension. The room 125 was small, quite dark, a dismal outlook, the bath and wash basin had horrible stains in the porcelain and the room needed a complete redecoration as there was lots of chipped paintwork.

We enjoyed our two night stay here. The parkland setting overlooked by the terrace was great and the staff were lovely. We stayed in a basic double room which was well set out with all the amenities needed. We were however disappointed with the limited food offer.
Other Comments
Our room had air conditioning, a good sized TV, was well lit and had power points in all the right places. The en-suite bath/shower had an excellent supply of instant hot water.
The breakfast buffet was very good, but the restaurant menu for lunch and dinner was limited for choice, as was the wine list. The food was cooked adequately but pretty bland. A great shame.

A fabulous location, literally if you want to "get away from it all" just arrive, lock up your car and enjoy this place. Our only negative was the room, a bit on the small side meaning getting into bed on one side was tight (to the wall), otherwise an excellent 2 day break. Pleasant staff too!.

The Stanton House Hotel is a beautifully converted manor house situated next to the 64 acre Stanton Park. There is ample parking. The staff have all been helpful and attentive. The restaurant has a good choice of meals all at reasonable prices. The bed rooms are comfortable and well provided for with tea/coffee, biscuits, bottled water and free view tv although some of the furniture looks a bit tired. It is well situated to explore some amazing scenery and heritage sites. Unfortunately the plastic flowers in the garden/planters spoil the overall ambiance.

Disappointed with room size. Would have to pay for upgrade.
Wanted to eat outside as its been very hot and outside looks over a lake and is quite lovely but they would only serve drinks and not meals or snacks only in the restaurant can you eat your evening food. So we didnt bother but would.have been nice to have a few snacks with a beer overlooking the park. Also, if they did this rattan sets with cushions would be ideal instead of wooden table and chairs. Think they are missing a trick.

We had booked a 2 night travelzoo stay with cream tea and breakfast and upgraded our room. We were very happy with the room it was on the 3rd floor with beautiful views of the garden and cedar trees, and a lovely size well worth the extra £20 a night. All the staff were friendly and created a lovely atmosphere. We were also both impressed with how clean everywhere was. Food wise our cream tea was lovely, breakfast was a buffet with plenty of choice, we had dinner in the restaurant one of the evenings and again the food was lovely. We both said we would go back there again, we had a lovely couple of days break and went home feeling totally relaxed. The only negative thing was ( and this is us nit picking) at the main entrance and outside the conservatory the cheap looking artificial plants they let the hotel which is a beautiful building down I'm sure they could maintain a few pots of real plants.

Close to Swindon & Cirencester. Only downside, menu limited & not changed since September & no Sunday carvery either time we visited although advertised as every Sunday. Cream tea excellent, afternoon tea looked superb.

First impression was we thought it was a care home !!
Check in took ages, nobody available.
We paid an extra £15 per night for a ‘superior’ room and under no circumstances could the room we were allocated could be termed superior. The bed was a standard double, the bathroom was antiquated, the wardrobe had a makeshift lock, one could boil the kettle or watch television due to only one socket available, overall far less than satisfactory. The housekeeper showed me three other rooms but none were up to standard. We decided to stay due to the inclement weather.
We checked out the next morning . We explained our early departure to reception.
A complete waste of time, energy and money.
No substitutions. Seasonal items subject to change.
