Food and drink expensive. Breakfasts disappointing (e.g. no freshly made coffee). Poor servicing of our room after first night). Whilst tastefully decorated, the hotel lacked a cosy feel.

We had a nice stay at The Hatton Court Hotel although we were originally in a room next door to a yapping dog. However the duty manager kindly moved us to another room which was much more peaceful. The hotel doesn’t have lifts and we were in an annexe which had quite a few steps to negotiate which would be a problem for anyone with mobility issues. The food in the restaurant was very good and so was the breakfast with good menu choices.

Very tatty room with very dated 1980s bathroom, in need of renovation. Building work going on in the rooms next door. Drilling started at 7.30am on the Saturday morning. Banging from building work continuing throughout the day. Restaurant was disappointing. My husband’s meal was good, but mine (the vegetarian curry), was of similar quality to what you’d get for much less in a chain pub like Wetherspoons. Wasn’t worth the price. Orange juice at break tasted like orange cordial. Freeze dried coffee out of a jar. Toast was not sourdough, despite how it was advertised in the menu.
Wouldn’t stay here again and feel a bit ripped off as the price didn’t reflect the price we paid, or what we expected from a 4 star hotel. Impression I had was that the hotel is struggling.

Excellent location but partially let down by very poor pot holed condition of entrance drive to Hotel. Constant background hum from air conditioning unit for kitchen that was located on the wall just outside our room meant that earplugs had to be worn to allow us to sleep. Unable to dry towels after use on the towel rail in the bathroom as it wasn't heated. (Not electrical but water supplied.) Sink taps didn't function properly. Hot tap appeared to be off but regularly emitted a high pitch squeal before discharching some hot water into the sink. Cold tap had a fully off physical position that allowed a slow stream of water to continue to flow. Turning the tap to a allow water to flow actually stopped the flow but slightly further in the same on direction and the flow was far too powerful for waht was required.
Other Comments
The staff were very helpful, friendly and courteous. Breakfast was also good. Hopefully the above room faults are eradicated before further guests arrive and consideration is given to the resurfacing of the entrance drive.

Had an excellent stay. We had booked a 2 night stay with the specific aim to visit The Farmers Dog & Diddly Squat. Everything worked out perfectly. We really enjoyed our stay. Good food lots of laughs & great wines with a few rum & cokes with our Rummikub games. Felt very comfortable & the staff especially Zack were great.
Other Comments
We have a couple of comments regarding our stay. Ideally would have preferred a bigger bed. Couldn’t get a king size bed & a walk in shower. The walk in shower was the more important so we went for that.
The other point was our room didn’t get serviced . When we told them on our return from our day out, we were told that we should have been asked when checking in, do you want your room serviced ? !!! and we hadn’t been.
They did sort it out but it had been a surprise.
We travel lots & never before have we had to ask.
Hatton Court was great thank you.

A lovely old hotel in a stunning location. The views are magnificent.
The downstairs part of the hotel has been tastefully decorated in keeping with a 4 star hotel, cosy and welcoming.
Our room was in need of renovation and cleaning. It was very tired and the en suite was horrible. The windows were drafty and needed a good clean.

At departure there was an attempt to charge us for drinks, when we had had none.

Staff were friendly and lovely terrace to sit out on and enjoy the far reaching reviews.

Rooms slightly dated, and carpets dirty in corridors. The biggest issue was the very old bathroom with serious plumbing issues with loud noise all the evening until my husband turned on and off various taps that probably cleared an air lock. Hot water was scalding as soon as you turned the taps on which was dangerous.
The restaurant was very overpriced for ordinary food. Charging £5.50 for a portion of green vegetables is unacceptable. Over priced duck breast and chips came with rocket salad. My husband asked if this could be changed to green vegetables and was told that the rocket was just a little bit of dressing so we would have to pay for vegetables.
Breakfast included one piece of bacon in full English. It just seemed that they were scrimping wherever they could.

Our room in the main building was beautiful, clean and well presented, also serviced well. It was a pleasure to eat in the restaurant with attentive staff and great food. My husband and I also felt the need to complement the staff by the way they cleaned the tables during service. Spraying the cloth in a Discreet area then wiping the tables, professional hygiene practise!
