- Combe House Hotel dates from the 1600s and is a Grade II-listed former watermill. The original 26-foot waterwheel is still in place.
- "Hearty cooking is a big draw" (The Daily Telegraph) in the hotel's restaurant. Sample local produce, including Somerset cider and artisan cheese.
- William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge both lived in the area in the 1790s. Many of the poems in their collection Lyrical Ballads were inspired by the surrounding countryside. Coleridge Cottage—the poet's home between 1797–1799—is less than 10 minutes' drive away.
- The Woodland Hill circular walk passes right by the hotel. It passes through open heathland with views of the Somerset Levels, Mendip Hills, Bristol Channel, and Bannau Brycheiniog.

When we went to book in, there was no record of our booking! Not a good start! The receptionist then found us, but we were booked in to arrive on the day that we were actually leaving! Luckily there was one spare room, but only available for 2 nights, then we had to change rooms. Also, & this may have been our misunderstanding, we thought the dinner deal was for both of us for three nights, so it was rather a shock to receive a rather large bill at the end of the stay.

Sleepy, comfortable, welcoming hotel. We had a fantastic stay. Quirky wonky room, bed was so comfy, room was so inviting. Food in hotel restaurant was very good. Staff couldn’t have been more welcoming or helpful. Very relaxed atmosphere and service throughout. will definitely return

We, fairly randomly, selected the hotel as it was in a part of the country we hadn't visited before and was near to friends in south Somerset. The stay of two nights was very good. The staff, food, beverages, accommodation were all commendable. The cost was also very reasonable and we plan to return to the hotel at some stage.
Other Comments
We can't really comment further except to say the hotel has a large number of things going for it, and no real de merits.
