Great value. Fairly basic room but clean The bed was small and we should have upgraded. So that was our mistake. Staff very attentive and meals a good standard. Close to York and other small towns. Quiet situation. Pleasant grounds.

Staff lovely. Clean room although tired, a cracked sink and faulty kettle, could do with a refurb, but overall a nice stay. Food good too. Good service from staff very pleasant and helpful.

We found it a bit isolated so you need a car. Lovely hotel overall and a great afternoon tea.

We visited with friends using a two-night special offer and felt that we got very good value. Our room was clean and quiet, and we were happy with all the facilities apart from a couple of small things (the pillows were very flat and uncomfortable and the shower suddenly went very hot or very cold without warning). We particularly enjoyed the breakfast and the opportunity to linger without being hurried along. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was tasty. We ate in the restaurant one night and that was fine. We would definitely consider staying there again when visiting York.

I don't know how they do it for the money. Really great value. The rooms are very clean and the beds are super comfortable. Breakfast is very good. We also ate in the restaurant, and no complaints at all - plenty of food, and very tasty. Good location if wanting to visit York or Castle Howard. Will definitely visit again.
