More Reasons to Go
- This hotel is part of a Grade II-listed Georgian house. It's restaurant, Goodwins 1757, serves modern British cuisine in a relaxed setting, overlooking the gorge.
- The 1779 Iron Bridge is a 10-minute stroll away. Head through the hotel's landscaped gardens and take the footpath beside the River Severn. Along the way, discover independent shops, the antique centre, bars, cafes, and peaceful riverside spots.
- Ironbridge encompasses 10 museums, 35 listed buildings, and sites of historic interest. Together they trace the story of the Industrial Revolution and give an insight into Victorian life. The museums, including Blists Hill Victorian Town and Enginuity, have transferred into the care of the National Trust. This means admission is free for those who have a National Trust membership.
- The Shropshire Hills National Landscape is around 15 minutes' drive away. The Wrekin offers impressive views and was the site of an Iron Age hill fort.
- For day trips further afield, Shrewsbury, Bridgnorth, and Ludlow are within 45 minutes' drive of the hotel. Discover Shrewsbury's cobbled streets, independent boutiques, and Tudor centre. Hitch a ride on Bridgnorth's historic cliff railway and explore its High and Low Towns. Or head to Ludlow, described by poet John Betjeman as "probably the loveliest town in England".

Rather querky hotel but full of character. Room (No.12) was a bit on the small side and the view out over the kitchen was definitly nothing special. But it was very clean, warm and comfortable. Highlight was the food which way exceeded our expectations....really excellent.

Lovely hotel, perfect location for a stroll into the town. Excellent evening meal on our first night. Good breakfasts. Only disappointment was the room, we had the creakiest floorboards and the smallest shower which had very little oomph!

My friend and I had a wonderful two day break.in this well located hotel. There are old tiles from a local factory which otherwise can be seen in the museum near Ironbrudge. The ambience, decor and excellent rooms made this a lovely experience.. The evening dinner was exceptional and breakfasts were excellent . The staff were all very attentive and friendly.. Lovely, well tended gardens with a park and river . Thank you Travelzoo, will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting this area.
