Wonderful experience from start to finish, great value for money. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her special birthday treat.

Without us realising Kanishka took a photo of us and gave a signed photo birthday card to my friend for her birthday, which she loved! The Sondheim Theatre is what I term a cosy theatre and looking good after some serious renovations back in 2019. All the staff were very helpful which added to our great evening. Les Miserables is still a fantastic show after all these years when I first saw it back in the late 80s would thoroughly recommend!

This place is fantastic from start to finish. The atmosphere is warm, comfortable, and stylish without feeling stuffy, making it easy to relax and enjoy your time. The staff is friendly, attentive, and genuinely cares about making sure everything is perfect. The food was sublime as expected but still knocked my socks off. The monkfish and lamb my favourite. It was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish tastes thoughtfully made, portions are just right, and the menu has something for everyone. Drinks are just as good and pair perfectly with the food. I’ve never had wine from India before but they were superb. Everything feels well-run and worth the price. Great service, great food, great vibe—this is definitely a spot you’ll want to come back to. The highlight was getting to speak to Atul and Glynn. I was blown away at the time they took to engage with all the guests. The event made me feel very special.

Purchased for my adult son's birthday, as we had previously been to Kanishka and knew he would live the food. He really enjoy all the food and paired wines.

A wonderful evening. The Team had created an ambient atmosphere and the personal interactions from the Chefs was a lovely addition to the night. The combination of hosts was a perfect mix of demure dedication (Atul) and cheeky banter (Glyn) - both were equally passionate about food and service which really emphasised the value of hospitality. My daughter was a bit unwell after the train journey and Clive (FoH) made very effort to look after her. This was an exceptional and unexpected level of service. After a 7Up and a plain roti, her stomach settled and she was able to enjoy the later courses. Most kind and attentive. The Travelzoo team were on hand to make sure everything went to plan and did a great job of ensuring the event was timely and enjoyable. I even got to rib Glyn about his accent - I'm from the midlands too so, hopefully, he wasn't offended. Great job. Thanks Travelzoo

A special evening with 2 great Michelin chefs and an excellent meal. The staff were excellent and attentive. Booking was messy with the restaurant calling as though they were unaware of the event and asking us to be there at 6.30. Ambience downstairs not as good as the main restaurant. Excellent Indain wine pairing except the deserts as wine wansy sweet enough.

Having seen Atul Kochhar on TV, on numerous occasions, I’d been itching to get to one of his many restaurants, and when a friend sent me a link (through Travelzoo), I couldn’t resist booking Kanishka. I don’t normally use Travelzoo, but everything was organised in such an expert manner, so I’m very much looking forward to browing through Travelzoo’s future events. The dinner was called “Four Hands Dinner”, with guest chef Glynn Purnell, who also holds a Michelin Star, as many readers will know. The menu consisted of a six-course tasting-menu, paired with wines (from a Vineyard called Fratelli). The wines were great! Starting off with Leek Panisse, Smoked Eel, Plantain and Caramalised Onion Shammi – we knew we were in for even more delicious treats! Followed by Hand Dived Scallop with Oxtail Bolognese, Basil and Lemon, followed by Monkfish with Masala Red Lentils, fresh Coconut shavings and Coriander – all portions were a decent size. But, more delights were to come; Chicken a la Kiev on a delicious Cardamom & Fenugreek Tomato Sauce, accompanied by Truffle Cheese Kulcha. Now, I was starting to get very full, and then a Lamb Dish was served; Lamb Chop – oh, it was cooked to perfection – melt in the mouth – sublime! The Chop was accompanied by Pulled Lamb Shoulder, Turnip, Cavolo Nero and Gucchi Pulao & a Saffron Lamb Juice. This was the only dish that was a little spicy for me, as I’m normally a mild-curry lady, so my husband was more than happy to finish off mine! A little Apple Panna Cotta with Apple Gel followed and then the menu was finished off with the most delicious Burnt English Custard (served in an eggshell) with Blackberries, Black Pepper and Honeycomb. It was absolutely fabulous. The evening was a total sell out, with seating downstairs too. We preferred the upstairs, but as we had to venture downstairs, to go to the bathrooms, I couldn’t help but be nosey and have a look at the private dining areas – again, Kanishka was packed! I’m not quite sure how they got out so many courses, to so many people, at the same time – what precision, co-ordination and organisation – what a great team. What was so special about the evening was the service – could not fault it – amazing staff. And, together with Atul and Glynn, mingling, talking to everyone, and then a Q&A session, led by Sam of Travelzoo, it really was such an exceptional evening. The stories which Atul and Glynn told was so inspiring and without names-dropping too much ……………. I could have listened to them all night. Such true, down-to-earth gentlemen, and such funny stories, that made ‘the audience’ chuckle. We can’t wait to return to Kanishka, and with Glynn’s new restaurant (Trillium), we’re evening planning a visit up to Birmingham. Again, thank you to Sam and James for organising such a superb evening. We enjoyed chatting with them – absolute gents. Tonight wasn’t just about the truly amazing food, it was about the interaction, stories and learning so much. A superb evening in every aspect.

The food was fantastic. This is a cut above your usual Indian. The dishes were well-presented, good mix of dishes and most importantly were 'clean your plate' delicious. The dining experience was great. Buzzy atmosphere in the main dining room or quieter near the window. Waiters gave just the right amount of attention which was appreciated. Food was the star of the show.
Other Comments
Only complaint was that if you are seated in the central row of tables in the main dining room the aircon can be felt strongly.
