Built in 1865, the hotel still retains some of its original architectural features in the restaurant, marble-columned ballroom, and main reception rooms.
Situated on the Strand at Charing Cross Station, the hotel was constructed for passengers travelling to and from the station.
The hotel is less than a 2-minute stroll from Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery, and 10 minutes' walk from the London Eye and Covent Garden Market.
You can choose from a selection of dishes on the set menu—we like the sound of the Clermont burger, with the clementine chocolate torte and blood orange sorbet to finish.
Voucher Cancellation & Refund Policy: Within 14 days of purchase, Travelzoo will give you a full refund if you change your mind or can't find dates that suit you. Called in by chance as we were in the area. Although they said they preferred booking ahead they very kindly found us a table. We did find the menu uninspiring and had to settle for fish and chips (which of course you can get anywhere) but have to say they were exceptionally good.

I went for late lunch with an old school friend "just because".
We were greeted at the restaurant reception and were shown to a window table.
All the staff who served us were pleasant and polite.
Our order was taken and requests we made were delivered with a smile.
The food was delicious - especially the fish and chips which was huge and far too much for my friend to eat!

The restaurant and hotel are very elegant and spotlessly clean. It felt very luxurious and welcoming.
I would highly recommend the restaurant and I am sure the hotel rooms are very nice although we didn't stay.

Only slight issue on restaurant reception, with the gentleman not really managing to accept the online voucher/QR code that is on the TZ website for our booking.

The quality of the food and lack of attention from staff. It wasn't nice... we paid extra for the sirloin steaks which which edible but tasteless. We were not offered any sauces. The mushrooms were hard. Even the chips didnt taste of anything. It was a very bland meal. The best part were the cherry tomatoes. The wine was very poor. A very new Sangiovese was very dry and tasted cheap. Very disappointing as this was a birthday meal. The dessert was satisfactory.

The restaurant itself is really nice. The menu is pub grub type stuff, burgers, fish and chips etc. Everyone enjoyed their food and the wines were good. Brilliant value for money. So I would recommend it as a cheap deal. But the very poor, frustrating service would stop me recommending the restaurant fully.

Lovely place with good decor and a broad winding staircase up to the restaurant. Service level was high with pleasant, polite and efficient waitresses. Food choice was limited but standard was good. Value for money was high - especially with the bottle of wine option

We were welcomed, asked our choice of wine and given time to study the menu. The portion size was great. The food was excellent.

We were given a table by the window it was lovely. I told the waitress we had that we were eating there before going to a show. The waitress made certain the kitchen knew this so we had time to eat without rushing and also did not arrive late for the show. They could not have been more helpful. Would highly recommend.

The venue is beautiful, the staff were very good with great service and lovely food. We had two courses with a glass of wine, and the house wine was excellent.
Only issue I had was trying to get through to the restaurant, once I finally did, booking was easy and good service.
Mains
-Grilled chicken, with creamy mash potato, wild mushroom, rainbow carrots, peppercorn sauce
-Fish and chips. Hand-battered fish, triple-cooked chips, mushy peas, chunky tartare sauce
-Clermont beef burger, with chipotle mayo, pickled red cabbage, roquette, gem lettuce, plum tomato, melted cheese & grilled smoked streaky bacon
-Clermont veggie burger. Plant based burger, baby gem lettuce, plum tomato, smoked applewood vegan cheddar cheese, pickled red cabbage, chipotle mayo
-Chicken Caesar salad, with grilled chicken, baby gem lettuce, Caesar dressing, crispy croutons, Italian hard cheese
