Why We Love This Deal
The dishes at Paul Askew's 2-AA-Rosette restaurant The Art School are "ambitious and full of colour", says The Michelin Guide. Visit for three courses from an innovative, fine-dining set menu for £45 per person. Travelzoo members also get a glass of wine included.
What's Included
- A 3-course meal for one person from the Prix Fixe menu
- A 125ml glass of Bordeaux red or white wine
- Valid for lunch 12–2:15pm and early dinner 5–6:15pm Tuesday–Thursday until 23 November, 2026
More Reasons to Go
- "Fans of traditional fine dining will enjoy The Art School" (The Daily Telegraph).
- Chef Paul Askew is well-known in Liverpool for championing regional produce, and dishes follow a field-to-fork ethos. He is the president of Disciples Escoffier UK, which promotes culinary excellence and legendary chef Auguste Escoffier's values among UK food professionals.
- His city-centre restaurant "continues to nourish the good diners of Liverpool", says The Michelin Guide.
- You might recognise the chef from series 12 of "The Great British Menu", where his main course scored a perfect 10. He's also appeared on "Saturday Kitchen", "Sunday Brunch", "Celebrity MasterChef", and "Friday Night Fakeaway".
- Last year, Paul helped The Commanderie de Bordeaux à Liverpool receive its Charter from Le Grand Conseil de Vins de Bordeaux. As a result, he was bestowed the role of Maitre De La Commanderie de Bordeaux—this offer includes a glass of Bordeaux wine for you to enjoy.
- The Art School is housed in a former Home For Destitute Children building, in Liverpool's Georgian Quarter.

First experience of staff was excellent as it was through the event. Great wine choice and wonderful to be able to talk to the supplier. Food was great and it was a thrill to be able to talk to chef Paul afterwards. We liked being on a table with people we hadn't met instead of just sitting as a couple as it was lovely sharing the experience with them. Overall a great afternoon and the weather was gorgeous. Great to show how good Liverpool's food scene is.

It's a wonderful historic building which Paul and his team have restored with great respect. It has atmosphere and history. Paul Askew has been a great ambassador for the city and has lifted the food scene to heights we never thought possible.

Not especially.

I would have appreciated some information on the way the food had been prepared and cooked prior to the meal, which might have prevented me from returning most of my Duck (I was not alone in this) under the impression that it was under cooked, as I don't like meat done pink/rare.
Another aspect was, I thought the dining room was too noisy due to high ceilings and hard surfaces, with no soft fabrics to absorb the sounds. I found conversation difficult.

The welcome wasn’t very well organised by Travelzoo. We were told not to arrive before 12:30 and, when we did arrive on time, there were no seats available for us! On arrival we were told to remember our table number (1) as everyone would be going in table order. There was just a mass exodus all at the same time with no information.
The amusement bouche and starter were beautiful as was the accompanying wines. A lot of people left quite a bit of the duck from the main course as it was very sinewy and tough to eat. The dessert was lovely though. Between the main and dessert at the q&a session both the Travelzoo host and Paul Askew kept my bing the mic too low so it wasn’t always easy to hear especially as we were sat the closest to the kitchen which was very noisy with moving crockery and cutlery. I have been to the restaurant before and will return again but not for an event like this.

From the moment we arrived right the way through our visit the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The Travelzoo event we attended was excellent with top notch wines and food and it was great to listen to Paul Askew and have the opportunity to ask him questions.
