Built in the 19th century as a family home, the property became The Whitehall Hotel & Distillery in the 1960s. It underwent a transformation last year and has reverted to its original name, Springbank Manor.
Period features include the sandstone facade, a panelled staircase, ornate ceilings, and a 16-foot chandelier.
Dine in The Parlour restaurant. The cosy bar and lounge features original stained glass windows.
You'll learn the distillation process and create your own 70cl bottle to take away during the gin-making experience.
The market town of Darwen borders the West Pennine Moors. Darwen Tower is a popular local attraction, built to commemorate Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee.

Wow! What a wonderful stay in this beautiful hotel. Everything was perfect. The food I’d amazing, the staff are so friendly and helpful and the whole of the hotel is immaculate. We can’t rate Springbank Manor highly enough and really do recommend it to anyone looking for a a nice break.

The standard room we had was very dark, not a lot of natural lighting and the bed was incredibly hard, nice soft bedding but the mattress was like sleeping on a board and very firm pillows, we didn’t sleep well because of this.

There was a power cut that lasted all day. The director made his presence known & offered everyone a free drink late afternoon & also a brandy/liquor as a night cap. This was a lovely gesture as the power cut was out of his control.

We had an excellent break at the hotel with quality staff. Our only complaint would be that they allow dogs in dining areas (there is room to keep them apart from non dog owners when dining). Th breakfast buffet could be significantly enhanced with hot plates being available for the hot buffet. Our evening meal was excellent and served by vey competent staff.

Had a fabulous 2 night stay with my husband and 2 dogs. Upgraded to a suite, worth every penny. Staff were so helpful and professional and even met and chatted to the owner. Food was amazing too. So much to do in this area, beautiful river walks and beaches, local people are really friendly. We were blessed with beautiful weather, wish we could have stayed longer.

Lottie on reception was excellent. Seemed to be single-handedly running the place.
Room and bathroom a bit tired and a strange musty smell, but large and spacious and well laid out.
We had an excellent evening meal but the breakfast was disappointing. The internet was very poor and the tv channels difficult to navigate.

Check in was quick and efficient. Receptionist was very friendly and approachable. We were told the time for breakfast for the first night (Friday morning) but it was omitted to tell us that it was different for the weekend. The restaurant for the evening meal was quite small which meant we were sat quite close to other residents who had dogs while we had our meal. The breakfast room was bright and airy and served everything you could need.

On the whole lovely, staff excellent, very helpful and courteous. Dinner the two evenings was very good the service and quality of food was lovely, breakfast was fine. Our room was disappointing however , very small, dark and tired and we had an issue with housekeeping but the manager dealt with it swiftly.

The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Our room was amazing, with a free standing bath in the bedroom and beautifully appointed shower room. Very large bath sheets and two lovely bathrobes. Really lovely toiletries. Tea and coffee in the room but no milk? Also no fridge. Our meal was delicious and breakfast was good although the choice of fruit and yoghurt was limited. Overall we think the hotel is fab and would definitely book again.

Seems to be operating with a minimum of staff . Those that were there , Lottie , Blake and Carter were heard regularly apologising for different customers wait times . The three staff mentioned were without fail , polite and friendly and helpful .

Bathroom lacked floor mat ( later provided on request ) , no internal bath mat to prevent slipping , toilet valve noisy , toilet seat insecure , toilet roll holder loose . All matters pointed out to staff . The hotel was clean , our bedroom nice and quiet , good sleep and breakfast quality was very good . Nothing reported would stop us returning .
