Enjoyed our stay at this hotel, great location. Staff were friendly. Food good. Some renovations would benefit the hotel, looks dated.

Very welcoming place which serves good food & very pleasant staff. Certain areas in the hotel were rather ‘tired’ & could do with being replaced (stair carpet). TV in our room was in a weird place, making watching it not very comfortable, however the bed was very comfy & clean & the shower, over a bath, was great. Wash basin, as usual, not user friendly for wet shavers - why are big chunky single taps fitted on small wash basins? Chair(s) in the room would be a plus.

Great hotel for people who want to enjoy the beauty of the Lake District National Park. Bus service very close to the hotel with regular buses to Keswick & Windermere.

Patterdale is a very worn down building but the staff are excellent and do their best to give you an enjoyable stay. Food is good but cooking style is old fashioned and over cooking of vegetables is common. Location is fabulous and atmosphere is good. Reasonable value for money.

The hotel is a walkers hotel in an excellent location at the bottom of Ullswater. It is quite basic but must be seen in that light. The rooms are comfortable and you should pay the little extra for a front facing room. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is hearty but good and good value. Overall, this was a very good all round deal for Travelzoo and I would recommend it.

Lovely helpful staff with the exception of maintenance/painter who told me to “move your car” no please or manners. Would have gladly moved but ignored him. We took our mothers 88&90years old and they loved it. Rooms a little dated but good value for what we paid

Truly stunning location with large car park. Bus stops for travel to Penrith and Windermere are right outside the hotel. Breakfast was good evening meals in the dining room were excellent - the dining room is super. Very efficient and friendly staff. The room was a bit outdated but very clean and very comfortable.

Really nice place to stay and we would readily stay again if we are in the area.

The area is great for good walks, few choices to suit all ability walkers.
The lounges has had an upgrade, but the bedrooms have not. Corridors needs freshen up with a bit of paint, carpets needs a good clean. We had Sunday Roast on the first night, it was ok, apart from the cauliflower cheese. It was a dish of grilled cauli with big blop of cheese melted on top. Lemon tart for dessert was awful, pastry was hard and the lemon filling was gluey , overall food was disappointing.
Buffet breakfast was good, also can order from menu as well. Believe the hotel will go under refurbishment next year as been taken over by Inn on the Lake. Hope it will better then, obviously prices may increase.

It is a lovely location but the hotel is looking a little sad on the outside and to some degree on the inside also. The food was excellent as were the staff.

No Blue Badge parking spaces.
I paid £40 extra for a lake view - there isn't a lake view in the whole place. Ours was overlooking the car park. I did ask but the explanation was that it shouldn't be advertised as having a lake view.

The location is excellent and very convenient for accessing Ullswater. The staff work hard and are very helpful. The rooms are a little dated and the bathrooms definitely need updating.

Nope - would definitely not recommend. In fact, I’m going to complain to the hotel.
Other Comments
We paid extra for an upgraded room. It was dark, tiny, no air-con, no toiletries in bathroom. The double bed was only 4ft wide (I measured it) and 2 of us of average size could hardly turn in it. Didn’t use the bath/shower as the grout was all black and the towels were like sandpaper The dinner was a choice of 3 - 1 veggie, fish or turkey (in the height of summer!). The breakfast was mediocre - dried up eggs, greasy bacon and cold tea! like We left a day early as we couldn’t face another night in that dingy room with the small bed. As I say, we paid extra for an upgraded room! Would definitely not recommend.

Really nice hotel. Our 3 course dinner was very good. Internet not good but I guess that's because of the area.
We had very pleasant break there. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel.

I think rooms can do bit of makeover, our one room was good, however the other did need some make over. I understand the hotel may be going for refurbishment next year from one of the visitor, who regularly goes there for many years.

We really enjoyed out stay at the Patterdale Hotel. The rooms are dated but clean and well serviced. The breakfast was excellent, a good choice, piping hot which isn't always the case on a buffet. The dinner was average. The roast beef was excellent but the starter and dessert were below average. The thing that stuck out about the hotel was the staff. They were brilliant. Cheerful, helpful, attentive and numerous. Excellent service throughout our stay. We would return again as the stay offered excellent value for money.

5 rooms, 7 guests and all left very happy with the Travelzoo Deal . The hotel is in a spectacular location, brilliant bus service and the rooms are very clean comfy and spacious with opening windows to get the lovely fresh air inside. The food was proper home made with good portions and variety. Breakfast was very good . The star feature has to be the staff who ( apart from one chap) are so genuinely friendly and go way over and above to help and provide the best service. 3 lovely lounges to relax in and dogs and walkers made welcome. A brilliant offer and experience.. is there anything I could suggest to improve it , not really as the refurb is going well , oh a local ale at the bar.. that's all I can think of - that's how good the stay went.

People quite rightly praise the location, staff and the food. The bar, restaurant and public rooms are all fine. But our room was very, very tired indeed. I mean, wallpaper peeling off the wall when a quick lick of paste would have sorted it. The room was very small and everywhere creaked. Having said that, the room had some good redeeming features. The hot water was always very hot. The water pressure with the shower was good. We had a bath. The bedding was good quality, as were the towels. These redeemed the room and together with the excellent food, service and consistent geniality of the staff, means that we would come again. P
The location, at the bottom of, in my opinion, the prettiest lake, is great. It is so relaxing and peaceful compared to the hullabaloo you find in Ambleside and even Keswick.

Hotel in a great position to explore Ullswater, bus and ferry routes nearby. Service in hotel was okay but it's looking tired and in need of a makeover. Our bedroom was quite basic, dark with no view ,, we looked directly onto a rocky hillside. More like a hostel than hotel.

Very good except for one thing - you can’t book dinner if you only want a main course. You must pay for two courses minimum. As a result, we went elsewhere - and so did quite a few others. A pity. Otherwise, very good.

Good location. Friendly and helpful staff., although my husband was not happy about being asked for payment of the wine we ordered with dinner there and then! Good food - dinner and breakfast had a good variety and nicely presented.

The hotel itself is very tired and needs refurbishing in most area although the dining room was fine. The bed in our room was comfortable and clean but bathroom was in dire need of refurbishing and the shower was either freezing cold out too hot.

Every thing else was fantastic especially the area and the setting.
Other Comments
After paying to upgrade the room we had a mattress that was to say the least an ongoing battle to stop from falling out of, and secondly even though we were there during a heatwave it was impossible to have the window open for some ventilation due to there being a extremely noisy what looked like a aircon unit down below. This was so noisy that it was impossible to get a good night’s sleep even with the window closed, very disappointed.
