Main hotel bit out of date but loads of space and spotlessly clean. Bedroom lovely, roomy with fantastic view. All staff very helpful and friendly. Meals excellent - good choices for breakfast and dinner menu - all meals were very tasty and well cooked. Don’t usually give comments but impressed with staff service and cleanliness especially!!

Our room was right on the corner of a very busy road junction. The road noise was intolerable. We had to have the windows shut nearly all the time. The mattress had seen better days and we rolled together at night.
The included evening meals were very good with adequate choice and good enough value for £30 . However one course for £19.99 is much too expensive. It could be starter and mains or mains and dessert for that price.
The afternoon cream tea was delicious. Huge fluffy warm scones and a good pot of tea.
We did 2 walks from the hotel and Dalemain mansion has an interesting guided tour and lovely gardens. Penrith is,near enough for a day out although we didn't feel the need to go.
We didn't complain about the room or ask to change because we did wonder if they kept " travelzoo " rooms for customers not paying the full price and we didn't want to be embarrassed.

The Patterdale Hotel is in a beautiful location and our room had a very nice view of the nearby hills. The room and en-suite was a fair size, was clean, comfortable and had a TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee.
The included dinner on the first evening was from a set menu with a good choice. The service was friendly and efficient, and every course was generous and delicious.
We had the included cream tea the following afternoon which, again, was very tasty. We sat in the main lounge which was comfortable, quiet and tastefully decorated - it also had lovely views.
Breakfast both mornings was mostly help yourself, but other items could be ordered, e.g. kippers or poached eggs, which were freshly cooked. Again, the staff were helpful, competent and genial. The only thing we felt was missing was a choice of fresh fruit (only tinned fruit was available).
Overall we enjoyed a pleasant 2 nights there and would certainly consider returning.

Arrived early and told room not ready. Went out for the afternoon ,arrived back at hotel at 4pm. Given key to room. Room had not been cleaned or bedding changed. Made complaint to manager , offered free drink from bar. Given another room. Despite off to bad start we had a lovely time

I do think the hotel does need a refurbish. The bathroom was mouldy round the bath and tiles also the 2 arm chairs felt like they were ready to collapse when sitting on them

Yes. The location is superb, the seating area out front is very nice in good weather. Most of the staff were welcoming and efficient. The bedrooms were clean, fresh and a fairly high standard of decoration.

The dining experience was particularly disappointing. The tables were too close to one another and in a very regimented layout. The ambience was institutional rather than relaxing. The quality and presentation of the evening meal was poor. Whilst the meat was delicious in my meal the Yorkshire pudding was tough as were the roasted vegetables which seemed as though they had been reheated several times. The decor in the public areas are in need of some updating; stair carpets were stained and worn.

The room was great. Large, clean with a wonderful view. Towels and bedding were excellent. The bathroom was fine (though no toilet brush). Lots of storage and adjustable heating. However, it was very noisy in the evening due to little soundproofing (and thin walls?). So, very difficult to sleep early and other residents up until 12.30am. The door had no handle on the outside so it took a while t realise it could only be locked with the key in the door! On arrival the reception and catering staff had taken on board my dietary requirements to prepare an outline of what was gluten and dairy free. This was appreciated. However, both my elderly mother and I felt rushed at breakfast and dinner in the evening. The breakfast was very poor - not just for lack of gluten/dairy free options, but quality seemed lacking. Cereals were in open containers as was fruit (tinned?), so neither hygienic not keeping items fresh. Breakfast staff kept forgetting to get items requested - or banging a cup of coffee on the table! Probably the lowest ranking breakfast I have had in a hotel.

A longer breakfast slot would be better - until at least 10.30am. Also a short check out time led to calls from the reception - creating anxiety for both me and my elderly Mum. We knew we had to get out, but health issues at that time in the morning were out of our control. This meant we left on a less than happy note.

The hotel is in an ideal position but the rooms are very dated. The air vent in the bathroom made it possible to hear the guests in the next room very clearly. The rooms were noisy due to very creaky floor boards in every room. The staff were all very friendly and the food was very good. Although we did feel rushed when eating.

We enjoyed the visit. Hotel is in a beautiful part of the Lake District. Staff were helpful land friendly. Breakfast was tasty with decent choice of hot and cold food. Rooms were basic but, for the price, we could not grumble.

Ok, clean, quite comfortable but we didn't realise the hotel is geared towards large groups( coachloads?) all on dbb bases. The only dining we were offered were £30 each 3-course meals so we ate elsewhere. Too noisy at breakfast. Staff pleasant and efficient.
