Waited years to find the time to enjoy the Travel Zoo deal for this wonderful stay in Tuscany. The whole Villa Il Patriarca was a true delight, with old world charm throughout the hotel. All of the staff were accommodating even if there was a slight language barrier, all had enough English to understand any and all requests with a smile! The hotel grounds were lush and the pool was a cool retreat from the hot summer sun. The food was the true star and the Taverna Restaurant and the cooking class did not disappoint. We learned several Italian cooking tips. In the class we made 5 types of pasta shapes and 5 sauces. Each dish was served to us for lunch that left us satiated and blessed with meeting mew friends, enjoying the learning process of true Italian cooking with a glass of wine. Some items were pay as you go, as for wine and water but all prices were very reasonable. The breakfast had a variety of selections of hot and cold options. We loved the nice waiter that brought our American Large Coffees to us each morning.

When we first arrived, we weee confused as the GPS took us to a small supermarket. We were very relieved to realize that the hotel was up around the corner. It is in a more modern area with access to major roads but off the busy street and a fantastic location to explore Montepulciano/Sienna and other small, beautiful villages. Driving was easy, safe and roads were great. All in all a fantastic deal!

The location is a little remote without a car or transportation. Thd pool did not open until June 1st. Book an experience, in advance, if you want any activity, otherwise be prepared to just telax and enjoy the surroundings. The yards and grounds are lovely.

The cooking class was terrific. Alessandra at the front desk who helped with a great class was one of the best hotel staff people I’ve ever worked with. I actually wish that I had a car so that I could travel more easily some of the surrounding areas. Unfortunately, the weather was really not that good during my stay and it was silly. Would definitely recommend the hotel to others and especially the cooking classes with the sous chef whose name is Donna or something like that. She was great and I learned a lot. Though all of us in the class out a wonderful afternoon together.

Wonderful experience. Absolutely beautiful hotel with exquisite grounds - don't be fooled by the rotary and bowling alley on the other side - once inside it's an oasis. It's kind of weirdly located - not much of anything around, so if you want to explore you'll need a car or be prepared to take taxis or buses. The cooking class was so much fun! The staff were all really nice, though in some cases, language was a bit of a barrier - luckily my daughter speaks Italian and helped out some other americans when they needed something. Would definitely recommend!

Beautiful hotel and grounds, great restaurant, friendly staff. They even went the extra mile to find an emergency dentist for me when I broke my tooth. Just a lovely place, I bet the pool is nice in the summer when it opens. The location is great, just a one euro bus ride to Montepulciano. We would definitely go back.

We loved it for our honeymoon. We even stayed one extra night. The cooking class was outstanding!
the encounter with wild boars hiking on the grounds was a surprise, but not threatening.

Staff at the tavern provided poor service. More interested in talking to each other and the gentleman was on his phone most of the evening. Didn’t come check on us after bringing first course. Eggplant was mush. When the woman came to pick up our plates she asked if everything was okay. I told her no the eggplant was bad. Her only response was are you done ?

Everything exceeded my expectations. The cooking class was fantastic, the food, wine, and service at our Michelin dinner was over the top, and our dinner at the Taverna was excellent. The Villa itself is a gem. It is historic but the rooms have been updated to meet technology needs. Tucked away off the highway it offers a beautiful view of the countryside. Staff and service were all helpful. Can’t ask fir much more to round out a wonderful stay.

Exceptional landscape, Toscana suite very cushy and well appointed. Staff delightfully helpful. Drawbacks: Hanging bars in armoir too tall to reach esp since they use security hangers which have to be put back together when hanging things up. The hairdryer can hardly be reached, too high off the floor, too far away from the sink. The huge tub has no grab bars, no non slip surface, and is the only shower. The restaurants are wonderful, but the Taverna is terribly understaffed. The poor servers try to run marathons every evening.

We had five couples in total to visit this hotel/resort. The property is beautiful, the rooms are wonderfully appointed and very spacious and comfortable. We stayed in the Fellini Suite.
Very relaxing atmosphere that we were looking for after traveling to several cities in Italy.
I would suggest having a car so you an visit near by villages and attractions.
The special tasting dinner was superb and deserving or Michelin recognition. The chef is very creative and also is the hotel manager. One knight she was waiting on customers and bussing tables in their casual Tuscan restaurant. We also took a cooking class from her. A remarkable woman!

It is a place to relax and enjoy the Tuscan views from the property and the pool area. I would stay again, but would have a car to enjoy the surrounding area as well.
