Driving through entrance through the narrow arch and up steep incline to car park is a little daunting on first attempt but you do get used to it!
Breakfast (full English or Continental) was very good. Dinner menu rather limited.

The staff were lovely, the Sri Lankan curry was very good. During the hot summer of '26 the fan in the room was put to good use. The room was small but adequate. The entrance to the carpark is tricky, a sharp turn with limited space, and a narrow steep drive to the carpark.

The staff were lovely and polite. And the surrounding area of the hotel was beautiful- as too the outside building. It could’ve been a very special stay :( and not what we are used to when we have booked with Travelzoo before.

I’m sorry to say it really wasn’t the ‘Cotswolds’ experience and didn’t have the country feel to it. Not the standard of accommodation we have got used to expect from Travelzoo. The hotel needed a good clean and old. It all seemed to have been ‘done’ on the cheap - breakfast really didn’t have much to offer and there was no ambience in the restaurant at all. Ashtrays overflowed next to the outdoor tables with cigarettes and it stayed like that for our whole stay, dead insects , cobwebs and dirt on window sills .
When asked for some water for our rooms we were told to fill a glass up from the bathroom. Just not a romantic getaway. But the staff were lovely

It’s a bit like Faulty Towers. The hotel needs some deep cleaning and maintenance, lots of love, care and attention. Needs an upgrade , My husband sat on a chair and fell straight through onto the decking. Luckily he did not get hurt but it could have been a catastrophe. The decking was dirty and unsafe. After that they closed the area off . The food is very nice. Breakfast needs more variety and longer hours and more vegetarian options. We had the pleasure of watching the filming of Father Brown, epic. . In all a pleasant experience, with friendly staff. Would give it a 6/10.

The scruffy, dirty and worn appearance, very tired and dated, not particularly clean. Dreadful reception area, area outside kitchen grubby with staff smoking, stale smell of cooking oil. Breakfast on the cheap, white sliced bread, cash & carry yoghurt, sauces etc. cook breakfast appeared deep fried. Cups don’t match saucers therefore don’t fit. Bathroom scruffy, cobwebs, stains. Bed old & uncomfortable, linen not very clean. Sorry to be negative, but a beautiful building in a beautiful village, but needs closing down & a big refurb, then it would be wonderful. Really, really didn’t want to eat in restaurant, bar was very grubby & sticky.

Great breakfasts and service, despite how busy it was every morning. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms checked daily. For the price you can't fault the hotel, car parking wasn't a problem and the location is really good.

Sunday to Tuesday the Crown is the only place to eat in the village, after five o'clock. Last Friday in the month is a curry night, if I remember correctly. There's a happy hour at the bar every night. Car parking could be an issue for large cars as it's a single track,uphill, drive to the car park with a tight entrance. Depending on how busy the hotel is you may have to park in the streets, we had no problems though.

The hotel is in a very attractive historic village where the BBC Father Brown series is based. We had three nights on a B&B basis with a TravelZoo voucher which was at a reasonable price. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. It is also a dog friendly hotel. These are the reason we enjoyed our visit.
The hotel however really needs to be tidied up and have some money to be spent on it for refurbishment as both outside and inside looked a bit shabby. We were told by someone in the village that the owner (not local) doesn’t want to spend any money on it. What a shame!!
Yes, it’s an old quirky hotel but it could be brilliant. Our double room was very small, just enough space to walk around the bed plus it was hard to get in /out of the shower as the position of the shower meant that the door could open a small way before hitting the wash basin. A poor design and somewhat dangerous.
The breakfast was fine, a variety of cereals, juices, fruit, yoghurts, pâtisseries with a full English breakfast if you wished. We ate dinner once, the Sri Lankan curry was disappointing, mild and rather watery.
Access to the car parking (steep slope) is through the old coaching arch, it is a tight entrance but it is made worse as a camper van is parked outside the house opposite the entrance. Certainly if we’d had a large vehicle as many do, access would have been very difficult.
We enjoyed our stay in Blockley but would not return to the hotel.

Outside seating area was pleasant especially during the very hot weather. As we had dogs we had no choice except to eat in bar or outside (which we gladly chose) but the waste bins for cigarettes had not been emptied plus smoking guests showed no respect that we were eating breakfast!

It was an amazing deal, the staff were friendly and welcoming. Rooms are a little tired, would benefit from a coat of paint and replaster of the walls where the paint has peeled off. The Hotel is one of the only places serving food, so after a day’s exploring and not having anything to eat that day, to come back and find the kitchen was closed, we went to bed hungry as they didn’t even offer us a sandwich, which I thought was quite poor.

Our room was very clean and cosy, the side lamps in the bed room could do with being brighter as it wasn't light enough to read without having the centre light on. Also I asked if there was a leaflet or a folder we could look at with the history of the Crown but there wasn't i thought it would be a nice touch as people are interested to read about a place they are staying in. We had a lovely stay in a lovely village.

The access to the car park is very tight and very steep. I dread to think what would happen if you met another car whilst going up or down. The staff are very friendly. The breakfast choices are very limited. Breakfast is served until 9.30am. We got there at 8.50am and all the Danish pastries had gone and weren't replenished. Only very green apples and large oranges for fruit. No gluten free bread. However, for the price we paid our room was clean and comfortable. Dinner was good and staff very welcoming.

We were well received at the hotel and attended to throughout with a smile. We dined in the restaurant and found the food to be very good quality at excellent prices. All very enjoyable.

I've seen comments that The Crown is in need of a facelift but I suspect that this would spoil its atmosphere. It is what it is and the Travelzoo deal is a ridiculous bargain. The friendliness of the staff is the icing on the cake.

The Travelzoo offer provided excellent value. The hotel is very old, so a bit tired in parts, but the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were very good. Rather limited menu for evening meal - we ate in once but went elsewhere for the other two nights. The carpark is up a steep hill behind the hotel and the turn in from the road is quite tight.

Ordered a bottle of wine at 9.40pm and then told at 9.50pm that they were closing the bar so we had to leave the bar and drink it in the foyer. Shower pressure was dismal, damp in the rooms was really bad. I fell on the backyard decking and twisted my ankle as it was rotten.

The English andSri Lankan menu was very nice. We would definitely recommend this Hotel which was particularly good value for money with the travelzoo special voucher.
