There was a large coach party in at the time which made breakfast and dinner not quite as comfortable but the staff were helpful and friendly.

Overall a great time.
Ideal for dog owners as there are a multitude of walks all around and also a good base for exploring Suffolk area
Breakfast could be a bit chaotic, especially the day the electricity went off
Evening meals were good with a good mix on the menu
Our roo was a little bit tired, and we had to ask for some things to be put right, which should have been seen to before handing the room over, cleaning being one issue

The restaurant menu only provided one
Vegan meal and that was a meat like burger which I wouldn’t want to eat as I don’t want to eat meat so why would I want to eat something that was like meat? Breakfast was very good.

We enjoyed our time at The Mill Hotel which was well positioned for walking into town. Like other Surya hotels, the beds were comfortable and everywhere was clean. The staff were very helpful.

Unfortunately on this occasion we had some noise which we thought was coming from the floor above of creaking floorboards and what sounded like doors banging. A member of staff came and listened to it but we did not get to the bottom of what was causing it. Fortunately this stopped after about 10.30 pm but began again quite early in the morning.

Breakfast was good with a wide variety of cooked options. The staff worked hard to keep everything filled and I was most impressed with the speed and efficiency of the breakfast team. My only disappoint was with the evening food menu. I try to eat healthy and would normally go for the fish option on a menu. But fish in a muscle curry sauce and noodles it a bit out there!! Not to my taste at all. So I chose the vegetable risotto, which was dry and covered with cold grated cheese, which was a disappointment. A light healthy option would improve your menu no end.

The evening meal was rather poor, fish and chips not good quality. It was the sort you would buy from Farm Foods.
Communal area doors grubby fingers marks and no toilet paper in the gents.

The room was warm & lovely. Comfortable bed. nice shower (No Bath) We didn't use the wiFi as it was very weak and wanted too much information to register

It was disappointing there was no lounge to sit in - just the bar or breakfast room. The picture of the room you use here does not exist at The Mill Hotel The breakfast is completely self service. If you want poached eggs on toast you have to make your own toast. The hotel was very busy, so the breakfast room filled up and it could be difficult to find a table. They ran out of butter & pastries

Although we had a very enjoyable stay our overall experience of The Mill Hotel certainly wouldn’t rate 4 stars!
Our room was very comfortable but ….. there was no towel rail in the bathroom, nor the bedroom, for hand towels and the big fluffy bath towels. Where do you hang these to dry them to use again? Also the promised complimentary bathroom toiletries amounted to one shower cap, a small bar of washbasin soap (which kept sliding into the washbasin), and fixed wall containers of shower gel & shampoo. We are now moved on to a B&B which has provided: individual bottles of conditioner, shampoo, body wash, hand & body lotion, soap, vanity kit, shower cap, & sewing kit! Now that’s what I call 4 star complementary toiletries!
Breakfast was a very odd experience with a self serve buffet breakfast. 1st morning the only eggs on offer were scrambled but they were the worst I’ve ever had - hard, dry, rubbery & inedible! Today they were the same but I asked for fried eggs which were brought to my table. Why was there no sign suggesting eggs could be ordered? Tea was available from hot water flasks - proper tea needs to be from freshly boiled water! Today there were no saucers so all around us were guests running around and sitting at tables with cups - nowhere to put spoons and used teabags! Yesterday and today I had to request tea plates for my toast & croissants - none had been set out. Staff were helpful but seemed unaware what was needed.
We ate in the hotel last night but I’m afraid the 4 star hotel served food which was more like 2 star pub grub. My steak which the waitress agreed should be ‘rare’ came ‘medium’! My wife’s sea bass main came smothered in sauce and a side of noodles that simply didn’t work.
It’s a real shame because it is a nice hotel but could be much better with obvious much needed improvements.

Very helpful receptionist who moved us from 3rd floor - no lift - to 1st floor, due to our age and limited mobility, without us asking.

Only drawback - limited choice of gluten free meals (for medical reasons, not lifestyle choice) despite being reassured in advance that gluten free was available. And on first night, chosen gluten free single option was not available. Fortunately the chef was able to provide an alternative. Staff were very friendly and hardworking

The main hotel looked very nice and i dare say the rooms there were a lot better than the one we had. I know it was cheap, but still not worth tge money.
